Friday morning in McKinney.
Shortly after 3 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to find a man trapped in a tree off Eldorado Parkway near College Street. Rushing water had swept up the man, whom authorities did not identify, and his dog.
The man called 911 from the tree, unsure of his exact location but relaying to dispatchers that he was scared the water would overtake him and he'd lose service to his phone, according to Stacie Durham, spokeswoman for the McKinney Fire Department.
A search team was able to use pings from his cellphone during his 911 call to determine his location. They initiated what Durham called a long-angle rescue: They set the fire engine ladder over the water from the Eldorado bridge, then swift-water rescue personnel lowered down and retrieved the man and his dog.
"It was a pretty lengthy rescue process," Durham noted.
The man and his dog were both OK, she added.
About five minutes after the Eldorado call, another call came in about a woman stuck in her vehicle off McIntyre Road just north of County Road 331. The driverâs car had stalled out and water was coming into it, according to authorities.

Here it is.
Thank you. RR
Color me impressed!~ Three persons were asked and immediately three came to aid. Many thanks to all three for your time.
Let me help you post on your own. It is easy but I have a few tricks for making it best.
From the pic, it looks like it was a German Shepherd
My yard is a jungle of these little guys...and they make my life, such as it is, a wonder and a merriment.
Your yard sounds to me like a lot of fun!
Good story. What state is this in?
Texas - north of Dallas. Same place where the girl and mom got in trouble at a park / pool party at the end of the summer. It’s been raining pretty solid for two days now and still going.
Thanks. I remember the pool story well.
“From the pic, it looks like it was a German Shepherd”
Yes, I agree. And the GSD was very happy it was saved.
Love the pics.
We have 7 critters with various issues, and we love a grouse, some wild rabbits, and tons of birds that we feed.
I read your post, and it sounded like you were near us as the list of critters is our yard as well. I went to your member page to see if you were in our neighborhood, and that picture of the kitten got me. I called Mrs. RQSR to see it, and she too thought that was great. Too funny. Great post.
