Is this the guy who was once police chief of Los Angeles before moving to New York?
If so, he has always been a gun control freak tho conservative in some ways.
That was the current police commissioner, William Bratton, who went from New York to Los Angeles and then back to New York.
While Bratton was the head of the LAPD, he made the outrageous comment that anyone who is opposed to illegal immigration should get out of California, or similar words. Bratton should have been run out of town on a rail for making that comment. (In a way, I guess he was).
