I travel for business in China and India. The air pollution is unbelievable. They are not going to stop using cheap coal without scrubbers.

Mexico City, because of altitude, terrain, and huge population was and is bad. But it’s like being in a pristine forest glen compared with Beijing on a bad day. They closed all those factories for a few weeks before the 2008 Olympics in order to avoid exposing the athletes and to, as usual for a totalitarian regime (Hitler had all the anti-Semitic signs removed in Berlin before the 1936 games), put on a happy mask before the world.
