I was attached to a Saudi Mech Inf Bde at Al Khaji during Desert Storm. There were about 15 Americans dispersed in a 1500 man unit.

We were told to use caution "observing" war crimes or treasonous activity such as aiding or releasing enemy prisoners (tribal allegiances trumped national ones).

We were told it was better to "not have witnessed an event" than to share a mass grave with the victims. I didn't need that advice.
