3. Amnesty is legalization unless you’ve improved security first. That’s Ted Cruz’s position (and Marco Rubio’s current position), again as I understand it. This isn’t so much a literal definition of “amnesty,” which is a matter of legal status, as it is a political compromise between the two prongs of comprehensive immigration reform. Legalization (i.e. work permits) is on the table if and only if we see concrete improvements in internal enforcement first. Border hawks got suckered in 1986 by accepting promises of future border security in return for immediate grants of amnesty; despite the Gang of Eight’s best efforts, they won’t get suckered again.

The problem with that, even if security is implemented, is it can be turned off instantly at any time by executive whim.

I support Trump’s statements and plans on illegal immigration and deportation. I think that Cruz’ statement (referenced here) is inadequate.
I will enthusiastically support Cruz or TRUMP as a nominee! I will support a Cruz/Trump or a Trump/Cruz ticket!

Exactly. Trump has said many times how unfair it is to those waiting in line. I know anyone wanting in will have to get at the end of that line.
Legalizing the illegals just kicks the can down the road for a generation. They will have anchor babies and those anchor babies, most likely subsidized at tax payer expense, will become democrat voters.
The problem is not just a porous border and lack of visa overstay enforcement. The problem is employers that hire illegals and government handout programs that sustain the illegals.
Doing nothing with them is better than legalizing them; however, not much better until and unless the anchor baby problem is eliminated. Then I could care less if the illegals choose to live "in the shadows" because they can just as easily choose to return to their countries of origin.

Trump/Cruz, yes. Cruz at the helm, no. He is for letting illegals stay here. That means the status quo for invaded states, which I just escaped. I don’t want my new home invaded and with Cruz it would be.

In all honesty I think that Trump believes as do I that just announcing the roundup will begin will motivate the illegals to flee in droves. He said he it would take about 18-24 mos to get rid of them and then he would build the wall so I’m thinking he plans to leave the one way door wide open to let them leave. Just doing show round ups for TV will scare the poop out of them.
