Editorial: Learn from Australia how to end daily mass shootings in America (barf alert)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | 04 dec 2015

On Wednesday, Australia was having a normal day — a day of no mass killings. As one waggish online headline put it: “Australia Enjoys Another Peaceful Day Under Oppressive Gun Control Regime.”

America was having a normal day, too. Two gun-wielding assailants in San Bernardino sprayed as many as 75 rounds at a social service center for the disabled, killing 14 people and wounding 21. The United States averages more than one mass shooting every day — an attack in which four or more people are shot. No other advanced nation comes close.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Arthur_massacre_%28Australia%29

The Port Arthur massacre of 28-29 April 1996 was a killing spree in which 35 people were killed and 23 wounded. The Port Arthur massacre remains one of the deadliest shootings worldwide committed by a single person.

BTW, when I was in Australia, I was shocked at how frequently people were beaten to death. Golf clubs, cricket bats, lawn chairs ... guns are not needed to commit murder.

Maybe — a big maybe — this gun confiscation prevented some of the mass murders like San Bernadino. But it did not prevent the usual gun homicides like what we see in Chicago every day:

Didn’t Australia ban the importation of Muslims in past few years?

Australia also stood up and told the muslim communities: “Either assimilate or get out.” America’s government won’t do that, so it’s left to We The People to protect ourselves and our families.

Let us not lose sight of the fact that what these effing liberals are actually trying to do is use the police and military to wage war against their political enemies. Any discussion of banning firearms is nothing more than an attempt to send armed soldiers into the homes of their political enemies while they sit back in the comfort of their homes and watch the mayhem that ensues. Ted Nugent was right about liberals.

What's with this date formatting? It's not even present in this Chicago Sun-Times article.

The format is European-style, also used by the US military. Maybe just someone’s habit.

Compare this:

On his website, Monis had pledged allegiance to "the caliph of the Muslims", believed to be referring to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and denounced moderate Islam.

With this:

According to multiple reports, Malik swore her fealty to Abu Bakr al Baghdadi on social media. US officials have told CNN, The New York Times, and NPR that Malik pledged bay'ah (oath of allegiance) to Baghdadi and his self-declared "caliphate" before she and her husband were even finished terrorizing the Californian city. The Associated Press interviewed an executive at Facebook who said that Malik "posted the material under an alias account at 11 a.m. Wednesday," just minutes after the shooting spree began. Facebook discovered the account, took it down and then reported its findings to law enforcement officials.

The first account was from the coffee house hostage standoff in Australia almost one year ago. The second was about the San Bernardino shooting. Notice a trend?

The Sydney Lindt chocolate shop hostage taking and shooting by muslims only resulted in 3 deaths so that's OK...not a mass shooting. /sarc

As everyone is finally noticing, what about the bombs? Bombs have the potential of being far more deadly. What will Obama and Hillary do then?

Memo to New York Times: Every gun has been designed specifically to kill.
