Cornell University Warns Mistletoe Isn’t 'Inclusive' Enough And Students Shouldn't Use It

A guide to "inclusive" Christmas decorations created by Cornell University warns that any decorations that remotely evoke religion, which includes stars and mistletoe, are incompatible with the school's commitment to diversity.

The university then rattles off a list of decorations that are "NOT consistent" with the school's "commitment to diversity and inclusiveness." The discouraged decorations include the following:

The schools says that holly, Santa Clauses, and wreaths might be acceptable decorations, but only after "dialogue within [a] living unit or area" to ensure nobody is offended.

Universities around the country have been issuing Christmas guidelines aimed at discouraging the display of religious symbols. A recent guidance email at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, for instance, warned against letting holiday parties become "Christmas parties in disguise" and discouraged using terms such as "Secret Santa" because they could offend people.

Interesting proposal. Why don’t we call it the “ISIS reeducation program” and instead of just a frontal lobotomy, give them the “full Monty”, ISIS style.

As the Red Queen in “Alice in Wonderland” once said, “Off With Their Heads”. An old but tried and true answer to extreme mental illness. Guaranteed results or your head back.

It is not inclusive enough because it doesn’t include pigs. You wouldn’t want to kiss a pig under the Mistletoe.

“I thought the liberals would love mistletoe, since it is considered a fellow parasite.”

Yah, it also has pagan origins; with the ancient Greeks and later the Celtics. You would think the Libs would embrace it because of this.

Folks there’s only one way I can think of that this all possibly makes any sense.

The university faculty are all stoned!

I don’t want to be inclusive.

Diversity and inclusiveness and progressivism is killing us.

Eff multiculturalism.

There’s only one culture that counts-American culture.

Assimilate or GTHOOMC.

The arrogance of liberalism, to decide that they are being inclusive by telling a group of people (Christians, Jews, Caucasians) what THEY can’t say, can’t have, and can’t do.

Wait til they start demanding that toilet paper not be used on campus so as not to traumatize those who wipe with their bare hand............

Brings back memories of when I was an adolescent, wishing that the action under the mistletoe was more inclusive - at least to the extent that it at least included me.

Years of ugly-as-a-mud-fence Liberal females standing under mistletoe with no results has finally come to an end. Much to the relief of (the few)heterosexual male students.

Yeah, class of 73 here in engineering. Was part of the group that was going to retake Carpenter Hall, the engineering library, from the Artsie occupiers in spring of 73. Campus security told us, as about 150 gathered east of it, to back off and they would take care of it. Professor Ruoff from Materials Science was going to lead the charge.

One thing I have learned over the years is once you give in, it is never enough. If they get their way with this, next year it will be a new list and new demands.

Just who gave them the power to determine how someone celebrates a religious holiday?

No, mistletoe is Druid. I should think Druids need to exhibit greater sensitivity to other pagans, like intellectual hysterics and other pseudo-heroic cultural warriors.

Where are the regulations requiring Muslims to ask permission from non-Muslims before they can wear a head-bag, body-bag, etc.?

How about a sign that says “Bah Humbug!”?

Might be a problem. Scrooge was converted.
