The correct answer is “as many as I want, as powerful as I like, and as much ammo as I can afford, or think I’ll ever EVER need.”
I’m pretty much limited to what I Have on hand, what I use would depend on circumstances.
Close up, 16 gauge shotgun and #1 buckshot.
Medium range, .22 rifle or pistol, preferably hollow point.
Medium to long range and a little time to be picky, .243 Mauser with scope.
If I can get some loads before it’s needed, I have a .50 cal muzzle loader I’d like to try out too. Close range it should do pretty well too.
