I just wanted to take a moment and thank both you and the other members of Free Republic’s Jewish community for making posts like this one available for public comment.
This essay is a sound condemnation of a significant segment of the world’s Jewish community and I deeply appreciate your intellectual integrity and intellectual honesty in submitting it for broader comment. This one small action speaks so highly of Free Republic’s Jewish community that I feel it deserves proper recognition.
Not everyone is willing to submit their own dirty laundry to public comment. That you do so speaks so very highly of your collective character that I find myself humbled.

It’s really everyone’s dirty laundry, MeganC. Matityahu and others began the revolt by killing troops sent by Emperor Antiochus IV. The Syrian Greek Emperor had sent the troops to force Jewish people to sacrifice pork to the Greek false gods and to eat the pork. That’s how Matityahu was not a liberal. He refused and fought.
So you see, assimilation (conversion) is the problem, and a constellation of idolatry is embedded around us in our western language and culture. Even the names of our months and days of the week are idolatrous.
I’m not Jewish, by the way. I do study but not enough.
