I believe Donald Trump when he says that there are voters of all races, etc., who support him. They just don’t talk about it.
I was at the doctor’s the other day... long story, but I said something about staying healthy and living longer. I said, “I want to be here! I want to see what happens! Like, will Donald Trump become President?!”
And he said, “God help us! oh... wait ... you’re not a Republican, are you?” And I felt shy and embarrassed (Canadians are apoplectic about the spectre of a Trump presidency), so I paused... to fill the silence, I said, “well, I’m middle of the road... I voted for Clinton.”
And that is true, I voted for good old Bill in’92 although I went to a rally for Perot in Denver and was really excited about him. However, in ‘96, I did NOT want to vote for Bill again... but Dole was so boring, I couldn’t decide.
I thought, in the ballot booth, that I’d first address all the ballot initiatives, etc. (CO is a big initiative state, which I love). BY the end, I had spent so much time and energy making sure I was doing the right thing, thinking about the issues, etc., that I actually forgot to vote for the president and vice president spot.
So, GOP... that is what happens when you decide to go dull. LOL!
The point of it is, I think there are a lot of people who are afraid to say they support Trump, but when it comes down to it, they do and will in November.

It seems you’re suggesting what goes on in Iowa in all their little closed door political committees with a bunch of unknowns involved are corruption free, perfectly legitimate, honest and above board.

You’re correct. Using your numbers, even remembering about 15% of the delegates are uncommitted “superdelegates” it belongs to Trump and Cruz to work it out. The fear than Jeb and supporters in the RNC can work something out here is baseless at this point. Personally, while things can change dramatically, I don’t see Jeb rallying to 40% which is probably where he’d need to get.
BB’s John Hayward wrote this today and is good analysis of what will happen:

I do really wish he would go third party. To heck with all the infighting and backstabbing by the Republican party. I do believe if he did and continued his rallies and hit the TV with paid ads, he would pull in tremendous support from all voters. Especially if the GOP got their boy, Bush and the DEM got their girl, Hillary.

I agree, but the wild card is Trump, who wants to remain unpredictable since that is to his advantage.
Don’t forget there are also around 400 or so uncommitted and unelected delegates chosen by the state parties. No first ballot majority, it’s wide open. Negotiated rather than brokered convention would probably be a better term. I don’t think many of the elected delegates will be for candidates over which the RNC has great sway. The top two or three will likely have to work it out amongst themselves.
Any attempt to freeze out Trump or Cruz will result in blow back of epic proportions. In the general election , the GOP won't crack 35%. Bank on it!!!!!

I think delegates are only obliged to vote for their designated candidate on the first ballot. After that???........
Compared to Louisiana or New York they are. Everything is relative.
The numbers I gave were only the committed delegates. I didn’t include any uncommitted ones.
Trump can win this quite easily without a single uncommitted delegate.
He is clear. He loves America and is sick and tired of people apologizing for it.

If they vote for Trump on the first ballot, game over.
Do you really think that many delegates are beholden to the elites and not to the base?
If they don’t change the nomination requirements, Trump will be the only nominee. They won’t be able to vote for anyone else even if they wanted to.
