To be honest, I do not go around advertising about whether I have asked God for forgiveness - that is something between God (The Holy Trinity), my priest (who represents Christ), and myself. Frankly, I would be rather annoyed at anybody who made such an inquiry of me - because it is a deeply personal matter and not the business of any other, save the aforementioned. Had Luntz asked me that question, I would have responded “Nunya” - as in Nunya business!
I think that fact that so many here look to make issue with this statement by Trump, says more about them than about Mr. Trump - or any other candidate, for that matter.
There are some things that respectful people, total strangers, do not ask of another - and this is definitely one. Just my opinion.
I think your opinion about this is spot on.
I did not ask Trump the question. He volunteered the information. He had no obligation to answer. If he felt it was too private to talk about, he could have chosen not to talk about it. But he did, and his words are part of the public record, which means the public is free to respond to them as they see fit. It doesn’t help him with evangelicals. Again, it is what it is.
Peace,
SR
