Trump attacks Ted Cruz for not supporting ethanol subsidies
The American Thinker ^ | December 12, 2015 | Ed Straker

Donald Trump attacked Ted Cruz for not supporting ethanol subsidies. He said in Iowa on Friday, "Oil companies give him a lot of money, so he's for oil."

The thing about oil and gas is, it doesn't require big subsidies, because it's the cheapest and most efficient form of fuel for cars. Ethanol, on the other hand, does require big government subsidies, because it is highly uneconomical. Ethanol is much more expensive than oil and gas and, gallon for gallon, produces much less energy than gasoline. That's why the government has to hand over billions in subsidies to big agri-businesses to keep it going. And that's also why the government has to force oil companies to blend ethanol in with their fuels. Because without government coercion, oil companies wouldn't do it, and the price of gasoline would be substantially lower than it is now.

Additionally, ethanol actually acts as a corrosive on car engines. It slowly degrades car parts over time.

But the worst thing about ethanol is that not only does it require taxpayer subsidies, and not only does it raise the price of blended gas, but it also raises the price of many different kinds of foods. Ethanol is made with corn - a lot of it. And when a lot of corn production is diverted to ethanol, there is less corn available to use for food. Corn is heavily used as a sweetener in many food products. By raising the price of corn, the price of many different kinds of foods are raised.

That is what subsidizing ethanol gives us. That is what Donald Trump is for and Ted Cruz is against. Ted Cruz is starting to lead in some Iowa polls, and he's doing it without this kind of pandering...

Well.....trump is attacking him here....and I am defending.

BTW, I am not media affiliated..

I just read the stuff.

Not sure what you mean by “with the media”...

I guess it means guilt by association and that you are attacking a defender of Cruz, on a pro Cruz thread.

Have at it.....I am over 65 and can defend myself..

You will eventually have to defend BOTH Cruz and Trump because the GOP establishments wants both of them removed.

That's sorta absurd....because eventually, by this coming summer there will be only one.

I just want these two to debate, one-on-one about the issues. I don’t care about jabs and I don’t care about meaningless bombast. Just the issues. Bluster isn’t impressive. Can we just get these other yahoos to bow out already so we can get this over with? I will say that I’ll support whoever is the nominee, because we won’t survive another term of Obamunism.

Mark Levin on his show said the media is trying to provoke a Cruz vs. Trump fight.

I agree.

Something else I'm noticing, the MSM is promoting Trump (they see what pushes him up in the polls for one thing, and they don't want to offend him and lose out on having him show up, so many shows just let him talk - they don't push back hard - and then they print it for his fans to rally around).

It makes sense that the msm would want to encourage him to fight Cruz -to take him out - then they'll worry about bringing Trump down once he's the bouncing-off-the-walls GOP nominee.

It's such a problem because you are helping the media to distort the truth. For example, it was all over FR that it's been part of the US Code since 1952 that the President can stop immigration all together, or specific groups of people, or people from specific counties, when such immigration would not be in the best interests of this country. The President gets to decide whom and for how long. A President Trump CAN do this one.

If you're going to vet, and do your vetting on a public forum, you have an obligation to know the facts just as well as you expect Trump to know them.

The short reply is that it’s a contested primary and it has to be that way. The two remaining candidates with good numbers after super Tuesday will by design, forced to face each other.

This will of course, cause issues here on FR as it always does..

But I would suggest that we let the candidates fight it out and not engage in the same thing here...

However, that will not be the way it happens.

LoL. I wouldn’t bet on those Trump hating liberal TDS Monmouth U polls.

To be fair, Monmouth U has never had Trump ahead in any of their biased based polls.

Yeah he’s never been ahead with Monmouth, but the MSM will use this to change the narrative and put Cruz in the spot light.

I’m wondering if VidDoc meant we will have to defend either Cruz or Trump (both - just not at the same time!) once one of them is chosen in the primary.

Some of my family can’t stand Trump. I like Cruz, but have tried to moderate some of the bombast that comes across with Trump so my family can hold their noses and still vote for him. So yes - I already have started to defend him I guess. (To a point, with some people).

I wouldn’t put much stock in the Michael Blooooomberg and Des Moines Register poll that’s about to come out. These two dingbat organs hate Trump with a passion.
