These are the weapons that could prevent gun violence("smart" gun alert)

"Smart guns" have made headlines for the cutting-edge safety and authentication features they boast over traditional gun locks. These guns and accessories are designed to fire only for authorized users and to remain locked and secured against anyone not authorized to access the weapon. Smart firearms provide the security of a traditional safe or gun lock, but with the mobility and instant access that gun owners require for their home defense weapons. While smart guns may seem futuristic to consumers when compared with conventional firearms, they are meant to accomplish the same goal as the weapons we currently own: to make us all more safe and secure. It will be gun owners themselves who will decide which smart guns will realize that potential, by voting with their wallets on which technologies to purchase.

Seriously? How about we retrofit (for free) ALL firearms in the entire U.S. and have them all controlled by internet interface from some secret bunker buried in the woods in some remote location in Virginia. Then, if the need should arise (which is doubtful), instant decisions can be made by people much smarter than us yokels as to activate the weapon or not. Sound like a real great idear there margot. Of course the bad guys probably won't bother to have theirs altered.

Margot is a dumb ass. Call me when every PD in America AND the Presidential Detail of the Secret Service has used them for a decade.

Then maybe.

If this “smart” gun technology ever gets off the ground, it will take some 15 year old genius out here about a half hour to come up with a way to defeat it. This is just more crap to steal people’s money.

Here’s the best smart gun technology: A human with a brain carries his gun on his person at all times and in all places with no needs for permits. He can lock the rest in a safe at home.

If the human with a brain has possession of the firearm then it can’t be stolen out of a car or picked up in a home. Smart, huh?

Anyone smart enough to understand the technology doesn’t want one. Anyone stupid enough to not understand how these things work will probably wind up with a useless hunk of metal when the SHTF.

"They. Don't. Work."

Yeah. Like I might trust my ability to defend myself on something that depends on a battery. Or for which I need to find a "secret decoder ring".

No.....I will NEVER buy such a beast.

But this is precisely why the anti-gunners want firearms regulated as "consumer products" or "public health problem" with all the forced safety features they can tag on by congressional approval.

Seems like Margot Hirsch forgot what happened to her Jewish relations in Germany back during the war...they had the same amount of bad judgement when it came to guns. Guess what? They came to regret their choice in forsaking personal protection.

She must be as dumb as a rock for when Obama and his minions disarm our law abiding citizens and make them political slaves, it will be too late to turn back.

This stupid safety thing where only the owner of the weapon can fire it is a total example of defective thought processes in all liberals. Just think if daddy is being killed and sonny boy has daddy’s gun and can’t fire it to save his life. How stupid can these liberal ban gun liberals be?

The word SAFETY has become the code word for the removal of all personal responsibility and subsequent replacement by government masters.

This woman can take her beliefs and stuff it where the sun does not shine...and while at it, go out in the real world and get a taste of life as it really is.

Bad Idea Of The Month

Take a reliable simple mechanical device with a very few moving parts and gum it all up with electronics and delicate control mechanisms.

What could possibly go wrong go wrong go wrong go wrong go wrong.....

Follow the money.

Someone well connected stands to make a fortune off this bad idea if they can only get the government to force people to buy it.

Since some number of police officers are killed every year with their own guns, these should be made mandatory for all police departments. A two-year trial period should be sufficient to confirm their effectiveness.

Not to mention, how is this mythical technological marvel supposed to prevent gun violence? If you can buy the gun, then you can presumably buy the biometric "safety" that goes with it. And the gun can't tell the difference between a legitimate shooter and a murdering savage.

It's a fake solution for a non-existent problem.

Now show me a gun that can read minds or detect the presence of muslimes and you might get my attention.

These are the weapons that could prevent gun violence

I didn't read the article, but I'd guess that any weapon that's able to take out large sections of major cities would be considered a "weapon of mass destruction" and not allowed.

I think it should be required that any anti-gun proposal start by showing the percent of Chicago killings it will stop next year.

Or maybe they aren't talking about the largest real categories of gun violence and only want to stop a few white guys from committing the acts of gun violence they imagine occur all the time. Lots of talk with no chance of making a significant reduction of gun violence.

In round numbers, firearm related homicides have dropped 50% since 1990 and the number of firearms per person has icreased 50%. Inspite of liberal hysteria, there is no correlation between the number of guns sold and homicides. We don’t need gun control, we need criminal control.

Shocking test results for the Armatix iP1 "smart gun"

From the link (be sure & read the whole thing - link to the actual report is there as well):

One of the big examples of these so called "smart guns" has been the Armatix iP1. Hailed as a dream come true by proponents of such mandates, the iP1 comes with a wristwatch which the owner must wear. Without the watch and its built in security measures, the gun won't fire. (In theory, at least.) Sounds great, right?

The Armatix pistol initially required a full 20 minutes to pair with the watch, even with the aid of an IT pro trained in its use. Without pairing, the Armatix functions like any other handgun, capable of being fired by anyone.

Once paired, a "cold start" still requires a minimum of seven push-button commands and a duration of 12 seconds before the gun can be fired.

The pistol must be within 10 inches of the watch during "start up." This slows and complicates the use of the pistol if one hand is injured or otherwise unavailable.
