On December 16, Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) will introduce the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2015" to ban all manufacturing of "assault weapons."

Besides banning the manufacturing of AR-15s and related firearms, the ban would put in place "new restrictions on the sale of already existing assault weapons."

According to The Hill, Cicilline said, "Assault weapons are designed for the sole purpose of killing as many people as quickly as possible. We need to do everything we can to reduce the toll of gun violence by keeping these weapons out of our communities."

Let’s just ban the term “assault weapons”.
If the sun comes up in the west and `rats get ARs and AKs banned, then they will start applying the term to shotguns.

`rats have become a 24/7 PITA. I’ve got it—let’s just ban `rats!

If they want to ban guns (which many of them do of course), they should stand up and and be honest about it.

Criminals will always have guns if they want them.

Law abiding citizens need to be able to defend themselves against the criminals. Self defense is a basic human right

That’s why our founders put it in the Constitotion.

Me too. All you really need is a zip code in their district. I’ve done it a bunch of times. Response? Typical boiler plate answers, non-specific generalization and “I’ll keep your comment in mind should this legislation come to the floor.....”.

“....because our riflemen tended to aim at officers, which was considered to be akin to murder.”

Everyone knows that at Bunker Hill (Breed’s Hill) the patriots were ordered “don’t shoot ‘till you see the whites of their eyes!”

They were also told to “aim for the crossbelts”, which formed a perfect white X on redcoats’ chests.

But there was a third order, “look for the gorgets”, which meant identify & pick off enemy officers.

War is hell.

They are designed to propel a projectile downrange to target. Period. Show me one CAD design which has “killing” in it.

“Assault weapons are designed for the sole purpose of killing as many people as quickly as possible. ..”

Should the good and vigilant citizens of this country ever have to invoke the Second Amendment Option for defending the Constitution from its enemies, foreign and domestic, it is my hope that they would kill as many enemies in a maximally quick manner that the threat they pose would quickly be neutralized. That is the surest way to keep the total level of bloodshed to an absolute minimum.

Why is RI a state anyway? It’s no bigger than some counties.

Knowing how these brain-dead a******s think, I would love to see what their definition of 'Assault weapons' is!

Anything that looks "scary".

Democrats are Magicians.

One day my Gun Cabinet is full of Rifles.
The next day they magically become Assault Weapons.

Any stats on Assault Weapon Deaths versus other Firearms, Bats, Fists, Automobiles, Knives? Buellar, Buellar???

"Assault weapons are designed for the sole purpose of killing as many people as quickly as possible"

Correct.

"We need to do everything we can to reduce the toll of gun violence by keeping these weapons out of our communities."

Just worry about Washington, DC - I'd be worried if I were you, too. We can take care of OUR communities just fine, thanks.

isn’t there already laws banning fully automatic high capacity assault weapons? Semi autos are not assault weapons no mater what they look like-

What the hell are those morons talking about? I can assault you with a single shot .22 bolt action and you will be just as dead as if I had used a .50 cal fully auto.

There is no ban on full autos. You just gotta have money and jump through extra hoops. Not every state “allows” them but you’d be surprised to see how many do “allow” them. I know somebody has the info out there if they care to share.

true but there might as well be a ban on full auto guns- it’s nearly impossible for most people to ‘qualify’ for one

But the point being that they are not trying to enact a ban on full autos only, but on guns that are not ‘assault weapons’ like semi autos

It has been unlawful since 1934 (The National Firearms Act) for civilians to own machine guns without special permission from the U.S. Treasury Department.

Since the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act of May 19, 1986, ownership of newly manufactured machine guns has been prohibited to civilians. Machine guns which were manufactured prior to the Act’s passage are regulated under the National Firearms Act, but those manufactured after the ban cannot ordinarily be sold to or owned by civilians.

“Techincally” the guns are banned ‘unless’ one gets special permission to own one
