Trump has some advantages. He’d be competitive in the northeast and in California, where the Dems haven’t had to work for a LONG time.

Obama is a loathsome, unqualified, radical, and a narcissist.

But this does not mean that we should counter with a load-mouthed, unqualified, ignorant, blowhard narcissist of our own.

Not just regionally, he can appeal to urban blue collar whites, blacks, and legal immigrants, that the GOP has had difficulty reaching. So his electoral map is different.

He might even pick off some Sanders voters, the ones more motivated by his anti-establishment rhetoric who distrust the Clinton machine. Which trades off a few establishment GOP types who may sit out or vote Hillary.

I much prefer Cruz, but the politics junkie I’m me finds this aspect of his candidacy interesting.

There is an irony with the Trump candidacy.

He IS creating that ‘bigger tent’ that the GOP establishment have been clamoring for for decades.
