I had a colonoscopy 6 weeks ago, in a small rural hospital. They put my clothes and iPad under the gurney.

They also used a general anesthetic on me. I did not like the poor recovery I had. At the follow-up with the surgeon, I told him what I wanted for the next procedure. I have a history of colon cancer and have had a few polyps since, so there will be another colonoscopy in 3 years.

You are one of the people who absolutely should have one more often. My wife is in the same situation due to a blood relative. She goes every five years, I think...

Two things: The more procedures a place does, the better they are at them. Secondly, you have experience and know now what works for you. Don’t hesitate to let them know if you have a preference, and argue for it.

If they won’t accommodate you in advance, go somewhere else, because most good places offer some options. Good luck!
