The U.S. Uses More Electricity on Christmas Lights Than These Entire Countries Do All Year
Slate ^ | December 25, 2015 | Elliot Hannon

Hello there, average American Christmas reveler. Things are looking good for the homestretch: You've got your tree all set, perhaps a few lights strung up around the yard to show the neighbors that life's good, and you're dealing with mild, but totally manageable anxiety about whether Amazon's going to pull through for you today or not. You've got a lot of good things on your plate. With all this #gratitude, it seems like an appropriate time for a quick reminder that beneath the veneer of holiday goodness, we're all still horrible, gluttonous people.

Exhibit A: Your Christmas Lights. (via the Center for Global Development).....

I do not feel the least bit guilty.

During the darklest days of the year, we offer light so we can see our way past evil and negativity. This offering transcends ALL religions in the USA, and it is made by people from many different faiths.

Such LIGHT reflects the freedom of the People.

And so, no politically correct guilt should be entertained in any way.

Personally I will never shirk from offering light in the midst of darkness. This is “luminosity principle.”

It is just something that Americans do, its just in our nature as Americans to light the way.

I use the white icicle lights inside on my porch year round. I just like the low soft white light.

I see the MSNBC mark on that picture. Did they use it to praise North Korea for not wasting “global resources” or something like that?

I just turned my front porch light.....there I feel better now! I’m sure the folks living in their mud huts will be thrilled.

I’m surprised they didn’t try to make the argument that putting up Christmas lights contributes to climate change.

Environmentalists are nuts. Through their forced recycling programs in many locations, they have turned us into a country that routinely washes it’s trash as it is thrown out, so odors is suppressed and vermin isn’t encouraged.

All those electrons used up, wasted! And then disposing of them, another problem.
Burying them contaminates landfills.
I’m so embarrassed to say I unnecessarily used so many electrons this Christmas.
Should have packaged them up and sent them to a needy country.
Next year.....

In other news a recent study has revealed that America ranks an abysmal last place in the critical category of envying other countries.

The American standard of living is too high. It’s one of the things that helped win the Cold War.

Commies and fellow travelers are still bitter clingers.

Excess capacity, Elliott.

Me shutting off my Christmas lights does not translate into a village in Africa suddenly having power.

What a maroon.

Semi related note:

A few years back I was looking for a wireless assignable multi-button mouse to replace the standard 2 button/wheel corded mouse for use in my music editing programs. So I posed the inquiry on one of the music production boards I read.

Being music related, there are of course libs everywhere. One went into absolute screaming hysterics about how my battery use would kill the planet and that I had no place there (the board) because I was not a fellow green traveler.

The one AA battery I would go through every 6 months in such a device of Anti-Gaian evil was the difference between environmental apocalypse and the survival of Earth.

Liberals, ALL liberals, regardless of whose son, daughter, father, mother etc, belong in cages. They are not sane, they are a danger to the existence of western civilization and they should be treated as one does any other deadly animal, reptile, virus or insect.

I’ve experience the same liberal domination in art and photography.

Its not about the art, its all about promoting the liberal message.
