Libbylu, I understand what you are saying.

The father did the right thing by bringing his son over to fess up and apologize. The father should not pay for the teenagers actions, but the teenager can be responsible for his action and make restitution by doing yard-work.

One does not have to know Ricci to see that he lost an opportunity there.

No thanks. I would not want that kid anywhere near my property. A few tears ago I had a young man doing repair work. Things came up missing from the yard and garage. I even discovered that $1500 was missing from my purse. I kept him on and later found out that he had used my money for drugs. I should have kicked him out when the old ac walked off but I am too easy going.

You really think the kid stole the signs on his own? To me it’s pretty clear the father and/or mother put the kid put to it, in which case the apology and the restitution needs to come from the parents, not the kid. These parents use their kid to commit crimes for them and then want to let the kid take the punishment too are real pieces of work.
