Donald Trump’s Surprise Personal Promise to Wounded Veteran in Audience Gets Major Applause: ‘Un

In Sioux City, Iowa, billionaire businessman and Republican front-runner Donald Trump called on a wound veteran named Todd. After serving 21 years in the Army, Todd spoke about his frustration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Todd's wife says he has been unable to receive an appointment in order to get the care he needs.

Here's how Trump responded via TheBlaze:

"You're going to write out your card, and I am going to put pressure on the VA like you won't believe," Trump said to major applause from the crowd. "As president, I can guarantee it. As Trump I can say, 'I'll probably be able to pull it off anyway.'"

The Republican presidential candidate also laid out what he would do as president to fix the VA.

"The waits are unbelievable," Trump said. Five, six, seven days sometimes."

Trump said that, as president, he would allow veterans to get care from their private doctors at the government's expense if they can't get an appointment with the VA. Trump said that would end up costing less money and patients would end up getting better care.

Trump promised to put pressure on the VA "like you won't believe." This was met with thunderous applause by the crowd and it should have an immediate impact on Todd's life. Trump also says he'll solve the systemic problems at the VA that are affecting many others. Hopefully Todd finally gets the medical cares that he has earned and has a right to.

Your mother makes the same mistake in perception that so many do. They look at Trump through the lens of politics, they expect him to be like all the mealy-mouthed anything-for-a-vote politicians we’ve been dealing with for decades.

Trump is NOT a politician! He’s a BUSINESSMAN. And a businessman is what America needs right now.

My hope is that Cruz, who is a politician, but a GOOD one, is on the ticket as well, to cover that base.

And once that’s set, bring on the most accomplished and able cabinet this country has ever seen.

It really is now or never.

What other candidates leave the stage and walk into the audience and embraces Veterans and their families who are being screwed by government?

I haven’t seen any of them do this except Trump.

I realize he is NOT a candidate but right is right and remember that ‘W’ would sneak off to VA hospitals and visit Vets with the ONLY way we found out is when the families of those visited revealed it.

Like JC Watts used to point out that the only time you see a mans ‘true character’ is how he acts when he thinks no one is watching.

Recalling A Funt from early TV some of the gags he pulled still have me looking over my shoulder a ‘2nd time’ when I see something of value ‘laying in the open’.

One of his ‘greats’ was rolling a car down the hill with no motor in it and the driver ‘accusing’ the guy who checked the oil with stealing it. “Well it was there when I drove in”.

Also the 20 dollar bill with string attached (Back when having a 20 dollar bill is like having a 50 or 100 dollar bill today).

My solution is get rid of the VA. Give vets access to healthcare thru the private system. If welfare deadbeats can get free Medicaid cards, then why not a 'Veticaid' card for vets?

Look, I`ve never used it but from those that have, I`ve heard many of the VA medical people are, to varying degrees, quacks who wouldn`t make it in the real world so they hide in the government run system.

Try 3 months or more is more like it. IF you qualify. Best route to go is Disability then. Be sure when you leave the Military you note every little problem you have. Because if you don’t you won’t even get the disability. WHICH portion of your pension is NOT taxable.

300 K Vets go homeless daily.

I remember Bush all too well? I have nothing but red hot contempt for that phony corrupt dynasty

I was referring to 2015 America and this election. Bush was so phony it was disgusting. He staged photo ops every where he went. Like cruising around in Border Patrol vehicles for the MSM. One big photo op while he flooded the GD country with millions of illegal aliens, during war time.

500,000 illegal aliens march on Dallas Texas, while pushing foreign flags in our faces while making demands and threats. All During war time while that SOB was celebrating Cinco De Mayo up in the White House.

Yes, I am aware of all that.
I didn’t PRAISE BUSH FOR HIS PRESIDENCY.
I ‘gave’ Bush credit for his compassion for wounded Vets while the Pols around him were using them for Photo Ops - IF they recognized them at all.

As to ‘W’, if the D’s would have run a ‘decent’ candidate against Bush and his 2nd term, I would have voted that way. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Gore the 1st time and definitely NOT Kerry.

Much the same way that many D’s (I didn’t say Libs) may have voted R for Clintoon 2nd term but couldn’t bring themselves around to voting for Bob Dole...

We have to look at ALL the people running - as a result of whatever we in Virginia got stuck with McAuliffe which begot us an Attorney General (who won by about 200 votes) who just recently declared 25 states ‘unreceprocity’ worthy when it comes to Concealed Carry Permits and it doesn’t take a ‘genius’ to figure what those states will eventually do to retaliate.

OTOH, like the wags say ‘If voting meant anything, they wouldn’t let us do it’, but I do believe that if you sit at home on Election Day and NOT VOTE, you should just STFU for the duration ALL OF YOU.

That's very nice you gave Bush credit for visiting veterans after they returned with busted blown up bodies. From a 'compassionate' war he sent them off to fight in a country where we had no GD business fighting a war which looted the American treasure and destabilized the entire Mideast.

Very nice.

Thank you for your good thoughts. I went to an outside doctor today. I’ve got a damaged heart and pneumonia scares me. So, I paid cash, a whole lot of cash, to go ahead and go to one of those “emergency” clinics.

I won’t say how much the x-ray was but the girl told me “We have to charge what the hospitals charge now because of obamacare. We got away with not doing it for a while but they now make us do it.” The feds told them they’re “just like” a hospital. Can you believe that crap?
