So far the only reporting following this tragedy seems to be alternative media, folks in the area and listening to scanners
Drudge is a completely useless site for current events
No more weather channel on our cable and the idiots they replaced it with haven’t even mentioned anything this morning except “ reported tornadoes” while smiling and pointing at a map
Today will be a very bad day when daylight reveals the damage and death toll
Meanwhile the violent weather is predicted to continue
Some storm chaser had a video and while it was very very dark, the Lightning seemed to show that big tornado just cutting across the interstate and tossing all the cars it hit
Last I heard was 5 dead and probably more bodies to be found at daylight
A safe and natural disaster-free 2016 to everyone.
11 confirmed fatalities so far
I heard one once as a young child. Funnel cloud passed directly over head. It was one of the two storms I can distinctly remember as a child. Thankfully, have been blessed to escape a lot of it here in Fort Worth.
That is actually amazing considering the total destruction of that RV park alone
Agreed. Saw shots of that this morning. Awful. The shots of the cars at I-30 and PGBT were absolutely horrific.

Garland tornado now 2d deadliest in DFW history since records began
NWS confirmed it as an EF4
Inside a moving car, probably not until it’s practically on top of you. Exploding transformers nearby would be the only likely clue other than seeing it illuminated by lightning or something.
Well that’s scary
There is no I-90 in Texas.
East Central Oklahoma. Near Biblical rain here. We were driving south on the mountain last night in the clear. Could see all the way East to Ft. Smith, more than 25 miles but there were black clouds visible in the city glow. No rain, not even rain drops then we hit an actual wall of water and visibility dropped to ZERO. Had to hit the brakes and the wipers at the same time. It was only about a 1/4 mile or less thick but never saw rain like that before.
We have had more than SIX feet of rain this year at the farm. I have never seen anything like it in six decades. I guess I’m officially an old guy on my birthday today.
I have spoken to all our relatives in the Dallas and Oklahoma area and they are all Fine. It was close for some of them.
My Internet has been out since last night.
My father lost his home in an EF-4 tornado two years ago. Devastating. But he re-built in less than a year and is doing great. Prayers for those affected in TX.
East Texas here.
Although we dodged the bullet last night with the tornadoes...it has been raining HARD here since about 4:00 this a.m. Flooding is a real concern.
You can’t always see them during the day, either. Trees and hills can get in the way, and then sometimes they are rain-wrapped. That is, they have rain around them and they can’t be seen.
You can’t always hear them, either. And when you do, they can have different sounds. If you can hear them, you’re in it.
I am glad you are all right. A tornado can pass by one block away and you won’t hear it. That happened to me many years ago when a tornado tore up a square mile of west Houston. It narrowly missed me and I never knew it until I drove unsuspectingly down the street later and found it impassable from debris of destroyed houses. The neighborhood looked like Hiroshima.
I have some in-laws in Garland. They said the apartments across the street from their condo were destroyed, but their condo was not badly hurt. They are not religious people, but they credited God for their survival this time.
I'll tell you what's even worse. I was looking right at the tornado as it passed, and because of the poor visibility, I didn't even realize what I was looking at.
At that time it was about a mile away from me, and was blowing up local transformers. The explosions were what I really took notice of. It was only when a friend of my daughter called a few minutes later and told her that his roof was gone, that we all understood that a tornado had just hit our town.
