There is a lot of clay soil, so most rain takes a while to be absorbed, the Catawba river was quite high yesterday, higher than usual, even after the reduced hurricane from 2 months ago

but phones are ringing off the hook here with weather warnings being texted as emergencies

This sounds like the same area in N.C. that flooded a couple of months ago.
Does it include Asheville?

Just like here in Columbia. I have had my time in flood water.

I kind of miss Charlotte since I grew up around there.

“There is a lot of clay soil, so most rain takes a while to be absorbed...”

Tell me about it... Been trying to build a deck for a couple of months but the area cleared for the deck is a SWIMMING POOL. Might just put in a diving board instead.
