You have a right to carry openly. However, it seems like open carry makes the carrier a primary target rather than a primary deterrent to an armed thug. Concealed carry doesn’t for an obvious reason.
Yep, that’s the point.
There is a Whole Foods store in town that prohibits open carry. I choose not to shop there because, well, first it is all the way in town and too far to go for typical groceries. Second, their prices tend to run a little high. Third, they've made their choice regarding the 2nd Amendment, I've made mine. I do end up going in there once every month or two for a couple of very specific things. But 99.9% of my grocery $ goes to my locally owned/operated store - which welcomes armed citizens, period.
