2 things, first Wakefield isn’t *that* close to the border, and 2nd, Berlin is not exactly adjacent either. Way up north.

There have been some bad accidents on that stretch over the years. I remember when a drunk kid decapitated someone in a crash right near where our road turned off the highway. Think that was in the 90’s.

Bad driving. The car driven by the deceased crossed the double yellow line.

The dead guy did not have a valid driver’s license.

Tinfoil hatters, chime in.

I’m not surprised. Not a lot to do up there if you’re not that outdoorsy.

The roads were pretty bad yesterday could have been Black Ice. I live just South of Wakefield and that stretch of 16 can get really nasty.

My first memory of black ice was when I was stationed in Germany. An accident preceded us by about ten minutes, and traffic was stopped.

A slight side wind hit my car on the driver's side, and gently pushed me into a bus stop. Wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.

I do not care to ever drive in wintry conditions again.

Our 5th Wheel is at a resort in East Wakefield, right on Great East Lake, which is split by the Maine-New Hampshire border.

You might want to review your geography.

A speeding Lincoln killed a family of five in a van on a long downslope, maybe nine years ago. (Rt 16, if that's where it happened). Supporters of the teen driver charged he had been "overserved" at a restaurant.

The deceased was unlicensed and was passing another car when he hit them head on. The SS guys are not at fault in this crash.

Another article noted the SS were driving a Taurus and the other car was a Mercury Sable. For me it was a flashback to the 80s.
