There is so much disinformation spreading around about the facility housing Jihadist terrorists at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba that one hardly knows where to begin.
The most widespread lie is the myth that Guantanamo is a key recruiting tool for the global Jihad movement.
That was NEVER true and it is not true today.
This is a classic example of the âBig Lie,â in which government officials repeat a preposterous lie often enough and loud enough that it eventually becomes taken for granted as truth, first by the corrupt, recalcitrant media, and eventually by the ignorant populous as a whole.
Jihadists recruit based on their successes, not their failures. Guantanamo is not a Jihadi success story.
Examples of the things that Jihadists actually have used to recruit are:

Just like Alcatraz was a recruiting tool for organized crime!/sarc
Guantanamo has been a Democrat campaign talking point to get votes from the extreme left and their “torture” meme. It was a tricky balancing act because there were still some Democrats who remembered 9/11. It worked by claiming this was about “values” while pretending they would otherwise be tough on terror.
But once in power, after having lied for so long about “torture” taking place there, they needed a reason to close Gitmo.
Since there are no actual good reasons for closing Gitmo, they need to make one up. The dumb lie about it being a recruitment tool is the best they can do.
So, the only purpose to that lie is to cover up for a previous lie.
Second biggest lie: they’re closing Guantanamo. Actually, the Obama administration is only trying to move it. Once it’s moved, the Democrats can tell their base that it’s been “closed.” The funny part is that the extreme left hates this.
If Guantanamo had been properly used it would be empty now. Enemy combatants captured and sent there should have been interrogated and then either released, if shown to be innocent, or executed if not. This determination could have been made in a very short period of time. Days, or weeks at the most, not months and years. It really shouldn’t have been any more complicated than that. And the message such actions would have sent would have been powerful.
The Left thinks that Islamonazis are radicalized because of their imprisonment at Gitmo, and that is why they wage jihad when they are freed. They refuse to accept that these Islamic jihadists were captured in battle and were already radicalized.
Obviously you and the guy with the big ears don't have a clue the purpose of Guantanamo.

Mentioning me and the big-eared guy in the same sentence is unnecessary. Whether I have a clue or not is irrelevant. I have an opinion. I expressed it. If you have a clue, good for you.
I agree with you in some cases. Of course, the military tribunals that would have decided such verdicts were deemed politically incorrect. America's war footing against 'radical' Islamists waging Jihad upon the West never quite materialized and we now see the war returning to a pre 9/11 mindset; becoming less about military actions and more about propaganda trumpeting political actions, court actions and 'strategic' drone strikes or bombings of supposed leaders.
Anyway, military tribunals could have easily determined guilt regarding war crimes and then had the perps executed; however, the problem as to war combatants in an ongoing war would remain. When at war, captured combatants are imprisoned UNTIL the war is over.
The war is not over YET Obama the appeaser is releasing combatants. The obvious reality is the Obama is surrendering to the Islamists...
