"We're winning right now, and as a result, I want to tell everyone to get ready. Strap on the full armor of God. Get ready for the attacks that are coming. We've already seen hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars in attacks directed at us. Well I went to tell you that come the month of January, we ain't seen nothing yet."

"I want to encourage everyone to get ready, because starting tomorrow morning, we are in a 90-day sprint to win this nomination, and then to turn around and win the general election," Cruz said. "To defeat Hillary Clinton in November of 2016 and to turn this country around."

Thank you for this comprehensive and informative post. I was prepared this morning to get into the work of finding out just what platform and basis formed Ted Cruz’s faith. To my relief, you’ve done it! I was already very familiar with the charismatic televangelists you mentioned. I was a bit surprised to learn of Cruz and his father’s connections. As for Beck, I was once an avid fan but I backed off as far as I could get when he began to go balmy.

I really wish Ted Cruz hadn’t made his faith a talking point in his campaign. It will only open him up to endless and unresolvable(at least until Our Lord returns) issues of doctrine and dogma. I was hoping to see him in a Cabinet position. Now I’m not so sure.

I will continue to support Trump because I like his business model and plans for America. I have a deep faith in The Word of the Almighty. However, I don’t hold my doctor, my cab driver, or anyone with whom I do business to my model of worship; neither will I do so for one that serves me, my country and The American People as President of the United States.

At the very least, he is “saintly”. Hyperbole is a feature, not a bug.

Your take on Barton’s work is accurate. The footnotes are extensive and accurate.

Thanks for your snarky reply that failed to address the points in my post.

Typical Alinsky response - attack personally when facts cannot support your agenda.

You’ve been exposed as a fraud...but thanks for playing the game.

He should be ashamed. He exposes his ignorance everyday, writing about things that he does not understand.

Good post. I was already aware of the heretical "dominionist" views of Rafael Cruz, which made me skeptical (to say the least) of his son's candidacy. You've done a good job here of pulling a lot of things together.

You'll be attacked, of course, by those who lack "ears to hear," but I applaud you for having done this.

This is a large country with many beliefs. They are equally protected. Anytime one religion seeks political power based on their superiority, disaster will follow.

If you replace Religion with Denomination their beliefs make much more sense.

John Quincy Adams on Islam

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth.

Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.

Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man's hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).

Nope. In other words, you refuse to watch the whole sermon like he did and instead chose deceptively edit the sermon to push a false narrative. You make the CBS notorious selective editings look like the work of amateurs.

and instead chose deceptively edit the sermon

Example? Surely you can point to an edit, and how it changed a sentence to say something it didn't.

They are either stupid or they have been infiltrated.

The only thing missing was a big owl and an Illuminati symbol.

the only point in your post worth thinking about was your slavish fan boy devotion. It was your post...rendering the specifics irrelevant.

Yes ... but not unexpectedly. Some simply enjoy fighting or creating conditions for that.... like the man they are following......Just another typical Trump tactic that comes from his play book that ‘drives a wedge’ telling voters why his competition is “not like us.”....

Apparently Trump’s classic “us versus them,” campaign tactic will likely work. It has worked for Trump many, many times before, it is a tactic that is particularly effective with the masses when combined with some sort of racial, ethnic or religious component...pro or con....Let’s remember that Trump is trailing Cruz in Iowa so he’s going to “create” an environment of “them vs us”.

It’s pretty astounding that Trump attempts to present the idea that he’s a Christian....His lifestyle, attitudes and speech are entirely diametrically opposed to biblical principles across the board.... There’s not a single characteristic you could point to that could even loosely be termed “fruit of the spirit”.

Bring it on. So far you are not doing too well on part one. And after a year of relentless anti-Cruz jihad you are yet to convince any real Cruz supporters from switching to Trump. Cruz has consistently won every single polling thread on who Freepers support. It's not even close. You are not doing too well are you?

OTOH people historically have not been too concerned about candidates' religious details.

Correct. The First Amendment religious protections have two parts: the prohibition of an "established" religion and the "free exercise" clause, which says you're free to practice your religion, not just keep it packed away for private use in Church.

These two parts only come into conflict when one's practice of religion attempts to impose observance requirements on others (which is the main reason why Sharia is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution). So for example, while it's admirable that Chick-Fil-A chooses to not do business on Sunday, mandating that all businesses be closed on Sunday is attempting to impose a religious observance requirement on others, which is why so-called "Blue laws" are unconstitutional.

So this sort of fear-mongering is baseless. Cruz or anyone else is free to hold and practice whatever faith they choose. Moreover, they can freely attempt to persuade others to join them is these beliefs and practices. But others are equally free to ignore such proselytizing and live their lives peaceably however they choose. That's the American way and I'm sure Cruz, as a constitutionalist, would be the first to agree with that.

That's what I basically asked you to do! You didn't "bring it" though. You sputtered and raved.
