That is an excellent, first rate, top notch summary.
Here’s the shorthand version.
The patient is dying on the operating table. One doctor wants to treat an array of serious medical issues—all but the one that’s immediately killing the patient. The other wants to treat the imminently life threatening issue first and foremost.
The even shorter version: Trump is better at triage than and of the other candidates.
The patient already died. It is now time to rebuild.
Exactly.
The problem with Cruz is that he is, when you get right down to it, still a politician. He may be conservative, but he's a still a politician, and his first instinct is still to play the Washington game. He still has half a snout in the trough of donor money. As such, even when he wants to do something that's right, he's going to play the game and try to compromise and try to convince the donors, etc. etc. etc.
Trump doesn't care about any of that.
Trump is the man for the hour right now. Cruz can come along once the pieces are picked up, and be the wise elder statesman we've needed for so long.
