It was a new year, but the same lament from MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry. The leftist agenda to curtail gun rights has been frustrated. On Saturday morning, the weekend host and weekday professor treated guns (not people) as the killers as she pleaded for young blacks to have a "separate kind of legal construction to address the violence that they might perpetrate in the world because they're living under this kind of mental constant threat and belief of death. Not even primarily at the hands of police, but at the hands of guns generally."
Guns don't have hands. People have hands. From there, as Derek Draplin reported at the Daily Caller, Harris-Perry tried to explain to fellow professor Jon Shane that confiscating "perfectly legal" guns would mean less husbands shooting their wives:

” Intimate partners make up the majority of known assailants: During the same time period, 34 percent of all women murdered were killed by a male intimate partner, compared to the only 2.5 percent of male murder victims killed by a female intimate partner.”
“Intimate partner” doesn’t necessarily mean spouse. It means the person you are screwing around with at the time.
It would be less than gracious not to say thank you for noticing. :)
Simplistic and superficial as always, Harris-Perry makes her case with ludicrously loopy logistics based on feelings, mostly her feelings from this morning.
Hey, if you can’t believe someone who wears tiny tampon ear-rings, who can you believe?
You’re welcome. If we praise wit, maybe we’ll get more of it.
My back of the napkin estimate based of the CDC and FBI figures is that more men kill more women with HIV than with firearms.
...and women, who tend to be smaller/lighter/weaker (physically) than the males of our species need firearms for self defense in these situations. But I guess that slipped by what's her hyphenated name... Maybe she suffers from the all-to-common liberal self-loathing and she likes the idea of women being abused?
I have no problem with that. When I am out and about I have my friends Smith&Wesson with me.
Unfortunately, that is probably still the case today.
There remains a stigma against having or being related to someone who has positive HIV status. It’s not as much a “Witch Hunt” as back then, but still makes the average person tremble.
What do people find so difficult about the difference between “less” and “fewer”? “Less wives” sounds really ignorant, IMHO. Call me a snob, whatever, I just think it is stupid.
Men don't need guns or other weapons to commit deadly violence on women...and those who would do so are really messed up in the head - nothing will stop them, especially disarming the decent folks because of them.
“... she pleaded for young blacks to have a “separate kind of legal construction to address the violence that they might perpetrate in the world because they’re living under this kind of mental constant threat and belief of death”.
So blacks need a segregated legal system because the current system makes them violent because they think they think they are under constant threat of death?
How can public people be so stupid, or such liars.
The FBI stats indicate exactly the opposite of what this liar says.
According to the FBI, at least 500,000 times a year the presence of a firearm stops a felony in its tracks. A majority of those instances are women defending themselves against male attackers, and a majority of these are women defending themselves against ex’es that attack them.
Lying Harris-HYPHENATED-Perry will have the blood and deaths of each and every woman attacked by an ex who was unable to defend themselves if they do not have access to a firearm.
“...a segregated legal system...” Sharia law?
LOL! That was really funny.
How about arrogant ignorance? Sums it up.
Yes, it does.
For example, Obama has LESS of a brain than, say, a flat rock. He also has FEWER brain cells.
So true.
Less / fewer error is about as common as then / than and jealous / envious.
Even with my average at best command of grammar, all three of these are very irritating to me.
