Yes, and burning up Ferguson, Mo. And looting, throwing molotov cocktails and shooting policee is okay.....they are just venting their anger.
Most of Iceland’s population of about 330,000 is concentrated in two cities: ReykjavÃk, the capital, and Keflavik where the NATO base once was. The cities are only about 30 miles apart. And, Iceland has no standing army. These factors make it a lot easier to march on and overthrow a government. I’m glad they did it, though.
“The Tree of Liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots.”-—Thomas Jefferson
There is no right hill to die on in the present and there never will be. The right hill only comes after all is said and done.
Every hill must be died upon.
The provocation is shocking. As I understand it, the two ranchers admitted to controlled burns, which did no significant damage, and they were sentenced to token prison time on the high end of what is appropriate to the minor offense (three months for one, one year for the other). The two people in question served their prison times, and, after the fact, a federal judge said they should serve more time. Really? The lawyers should have been able to solve that snafu, without the ranchers going back to prison.
Sadly, we live in a thugocracy, and ranchers are not a favored group. The judge responded based on his own agenda, with as little regard for human decency as the bureaucrat who fined bakers for thinking their First Amendment rights were more important that the so-called feelings of predatory perverts. However, I agree that this is likely a trap. It could well end badly for those involved, and I don't see the point in occupying a trivial building in the middle of nowhere.

Really Charles? Go suck your thumb while you conjure up some more really bad stuff that “started in the Reagan Administration”.
We need to be smarter than buffalos. We're being played, majorly.
And what do you call functional? Going along with Obama’s Feds?
ABC covered it moments ago. Bringing in generators and will stay if it takes years.
Well said, Hildy. Sad to see so many fedgov suckups here. Don’t expect they’ll be here much longer. Smell a ZOT storm coming...
Oh, I thought it would be Bureau of Land Management.
Obama could order a complete prohibition on gun possession today if he wanted to. Obama doesn’t need any provocation. Obama would have already declared gun ownership illegal but he knows that he can be far successful because so many of us have the “this is not the hill to die on” attitude.
Seeing the ways the Federal government treated the Indians, I’ll pass on that.
These are citizens of The United States.
I expect the citizens of The United States who are government employees, including the black-robed ones, to remain calm and make every possible effort to negotiate this to a successful conclusion.
Even if it takes years.
This place is so far away from anything, and the building was closed for the winter (from what I read), this can go months without resolution.
No, they will not voluntarily give it. So we have a few choices... Go through the Supreme Court because we believe the State enabling acts were clear as to the fate of public lands or take it through revolution. Either way, we are going to get our land back.
There are other ways of combating this, and the arrestees in question didn’t even want anybody to “rescue” them because they were going to go through the courts, where they would probably have been exonerated.
Not now, though.
