Sudan and the tiny island kingdom of Bahrain said Monday they would sever ties with Iran, as Saudi Arabia did late Sunday. The United Arab Emirates announced it would downgrade ties to Tehran to the level of the charge d’affaires, while other nations issued statements criticizing Iran.

The concerted campaign by Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia highlights the aggressive stance King Salman and his son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, have adopted in confronting Iran, a longtime regional rival.

"What we have seen during the last 24 hours is unprecedented... It shows you Saudi Arabia has had enough of Iran and wants to send a message," said Abdulkhaleq Abdullah, a political science professor at Emirates University. "This is the Saudis saying: 'There is no limit to how far we will go.'"

Thanks Barack Obama/ Jimmy Carter ! You two are America's dynamic duo of stupid.

A Million people have already died because Carter was President. I expect Obama will surpass Jimmy Carter in bloodshed caused by his Presidency.

I believe Obama will be responsible for 100 million deaths if we can't stop the events he has set in motion.

It’s all fun and games until Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz.

"I understood that Obama is Shiite."

Obama was raised as a Sunni Muslim in Indonesia and always sides with the Sunnis. It is Sunni Muslim rebels that are at war with Assad's regime in Syria, and Obama supplies them with guns and munitions. Obama famously supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt's uprising because the Brotherhood is Sunni, and when Obama issued the order to bomb Libya, he did that too to advance the Sunni cause.

A mystery that still hasn't revealed its self is why Obama allowed Shiite Iran to have Nuclear weapons.

Clearly Saudi Arabia is acting because it believes it cannot depend on the US to keep Iran in check. Previously every President, both R and D since Jimmy’s Iran fiasco, has seen the role of the US to keep all the players in restrained with no escalation of threat to the neighbor.

First Israel, now Saudis, no longer trust the US. And it isn’t limited to just them. Turkey is looking around, trying to figure out how to survive the vacuum created by the US leading from behind.
