Nahh.. It was the right thing to say. It takes the vitriol out of it and softens up Trumps image, while at the same time poking fun at Obama.
I have noticed that Trump makes a point to say something nice about people just before he launches an attack. I have heard him say something like, “He’s a very nice person and I like him, but he’s not going to make a good president, low energy, or whatever else he wants to say.”
I think he likes being able to say that he’s said nice things about this person or that person. I haven’t, however, heard him say anything nice about Hitlery.

There’s nothing “closet” about it. He’s been out for decades but his supporters can’t be bothered with his history.
