The day Orin Hatch defends my guy, it will be time to hang it up.

Hatch didn’t get the GOPe memo? Who do you think helps write the GOPe memos?

When did you get appointed as a judge or justice?

Oh, I forgot, like Trump, Trumpskis are experts on everything, just because they say so.

you should just forget trying to talk reason to these people. they’re pimping their guy to get him on the ballet, regardless of eligibility requirements.

they have zero interest in supporting the Constitution... and are willingly walking into a democrat trap (the dems will have no problem bringing TCruz to court to get him disqualified if he secures the nomination)

I can’t see how he could not know. I’m trying to figure out why/when the father took up Canadian citizenship....and some 30 years later (2005) took up USA citizenship.

There is a big difference between a citizen from birth and a natural born citizen. The MSM and political class is muddying the distinction for their own purposes and by doing so allowed Obama to jeopardize our Nation.

I didn’t ask you if he was eligible to run. I asked you if you think that incredibly intelligent man didn’t know he had dual citizenship. He said he didn’t know. Do you think he didn’t know?

Yes. I know where I was born.

He has a birth certificate. I have one. He produced his.

If mine said “Canada”, then I’d wonder. Wouldn’t you?

Remember, this is a lawyers lawyer, one of the brightest students ever at Harvard according to Dershowitz.

Trump the typical politician, was saying something different last year.

"Do you still think he's ineligible to be president because he was born in Canada?" ABC's Jon Karl asked in September. "No, from what I understand everything is fine" Trump said. "I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape."

I’m unaware that he said he was ignorant as to having both Canadian and US citizenship. My intuitive reaction would be that he wasn’t telling the truth-— but, to be fair, I would have to read exactly what he said.

I’m the grandson of Italian immigrants. I was surprised a few years ago, at age 52, to learn that through my paternal grandfather, I could claim Italian citizenship.

Contrary to what some think, the law DOES NOT require two citizen parents:

You are correct, without question. ONE CITIZEN parent can bestow CITIZENSHIP..However, TWO CITIZEN parents are required to meet the NBC requirement.

I heard this on a local talk show... I think trump is very strategic in bringing it up and how he brought it up.....it was to benefit him with the hopes of shaving some points off of Cruze and adding them to his numbers. I do think it is advantageous to have this talk now rather then 8 months from now.

He had to show a birth certificate for school, for driver’s license, for myriad things throughout life. Of course he knew. This question has come up before.

My son is three years younger than Cruz. He has had to explain a German birth certificate every time he produced it.

And does he know that he had a chance to claim German citizenship?

It doesn’t matter. He’ll never be elected President.

Yes, he received notification when he was 18. He had to renounce his German citizenship then. Germany had a draft ? and if he retained his citizenship he would have been required to join the German Army. This all took place on or around when he had to sign up for Selective Service here. I don’t remember the details but I do remember he had to sign paperwork.

Cruz was a lawyer, a Constitutional scholar, a clerk of a chief justice, a solicitor general of a major state, a senator, and planning to run for the presidency....do you actually believe his statement that he did not know that he had Canadian citizenship?

*************

Well, in that he knew from college he was going to run for office, the allegation would be that he knew he had dual citizenship, and was trying to conceal it.

I don’t see how there would be any advantage in concealing it. In fact, it would be a detriment.

He never claimed he wasn’t born in Canada.

I’m not trying to rationalize for him, but unless there was a benefit to concealing it, I would have to say he didn’t know he was automatically a Canadian citizen.

Do you see any reason why he would try to conceal it?
