So legally, she could ONLY be a US citizen.

It seems so by this article and the associated timelines.

Crap I forgot that Trudeau is PM!

All bets are off. He will give the Dems everything they need on this.

If Stephen Harper were still PM in Canada he could get Cruz out of this by going after his mother for registering to vote illegally.

Do you even bother reading the articles? It clearly says that this was not a list of registered voters. This would be like the GOP going door-to-door to get the names of the residents in order to try to get them to register and vote. Their names being on the list has nothing to do with them being registered or having voted... Which I wouldn't have to explain if you would JUST READ THE ARTICLE!

I like Cruz, but the fact he went to Princeton and Harvard automatically disqualifies him from my vote.

There has been clarity with her birth certificate. One of the last things needed now would be their marriage license and that would help Ted's cause.

If a FReeper has a link to those documents or confirmation on such info it would be great.

Yeah, and Obama produced a BC* from Hawaii too.

Insinuation is 75% guilt in the court of public opinion. The Dems don’t have to be right, just confidently skeptical to keep the fire burning.

And she was a US born citizen who never applied to be a Canadian. Period. Game, set, match. Anybody that continues this line is an idiot.

And the fact that Trump went to Wharton (another Ivy league school) doesn't?

You can’t vote in Canada unless you are a citizen.

Our Federal bench is filled with them. That's my point. The Left is about "any means necessary". Harry Reid and the filibuster is "Exhibit A".

Why would the marriage license matter? Even if his parents had never married it wouldn't change anything. His citizenship was through his mother, not his father.

They register people to vote in Canada by going door-to-door? Really?

Personally I believe Ted IS a natural born citizen, and his mom is not a Canadian citizen.

However...there is enough here that Liberals with a friendly judge who are looking for a reason to gum-up his transition could make a whole lotta trouble.

This is one of things people will not admit to voting about until they get inside a voting booth.

They register people to vote in Canada by going door-to-door? Really?

I was giving an example, but in Canada, they do an "enumeration" of potential voters. They are given a list of residents, and then they go door to door to make sure that the names are right, that those are the people that live there, etc. It is more like a census than anything else. And if no one is home, they keep on going. My guess is that the Cruz family must not have been home when they came by, since the father's name was mis-spelled and never corrected. But the list does not purport to be a list of registered voters.

By the way, even if they had been registered voters at that time, it really wouldn't matter, since that list is from 1974 - four years after Ted was born. And as has been pointed out, his mom could not have been a Canadian citizen in 1970 even if she had wanted - she hadn't lived there long enough. So perhaps we can now let go of this silly idea that maybe his mother had given up her citizenship before Ted was born...
