He then pointed a loaded .223-caliber rifle that had been "slung and concealed along his body" at the constable's chest, police said. The girl was standing behind her father, authorities said.

The constable, investigators said, drew his own .40-caliber weapon and fired once, but the bullet went through the man's upper left arm and hit the girl.

So the guy is already pointing an AR at the constable while the constable is reaching and drawing his sidearm, and then pointing and firing it, and the guy doesn't pull the trigger on the rifle?

:sigh: Yet another cop shooting that doesn't make sense. I hate this crap. How about the cop saw the rifle hanging on the sling and then just drew and fired on his own, and hit the girl? That's reality, not someone pointing a rifle at a cop and waiting to be shot.
