10 US Navy sailors detained by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Never autoplay videos

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said Wednesday that any report that 10 detained U.S. Navy sailors would soon be released was "speculation", while the unit's naval chief said the country's foreign minister had demanded an apology from the U.S. for entering Iranian waters.

Revolutionary Guard naval chief Gen. Ali Fadavi told state TV Wednesday that the American boats showed "unprofessional acts" for 40 minutes before being picked up by Iranian forces.

Not to worry. They are being treated with “Islamic compassion.”

From NYT:

But a spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Brig. Gen. Ramezan Sharif, was quoted Wednesday morning in the Iranian news media as saying that talk of an immediate release was “speculation.” He said an “investigation” was underway and that “talks” were being held with the sailors, suggesting that they were being interrogated.

General Sharif said the sailors were being held under good conditions and treated with “Islamic compassion.”

Let's look at the map.....J.E. Dyer... a retired Naval Intelligence officer writes as follows.....

... if these boats were really doing what the White House says they were doing, they had to go substantially off course to "run aground" on (or near?) Farsi Island..... The corridor depicted on the map shows a rough area between the territorial waters of Saudi Arabia and Iran (Farsi Island) where the boats would presumably have been in transit. To be "picked up by Iran," they"d have to have been on or near Iranian territory.

... But in that part of the Gulf, there's only Farsi Island that meets that description. It' not like they could have run aground on some other rock claimed by Iran and then been taken to Farsi Island. They had to be a good 20 nautical miles off course to be that close to Farsi Island, something that "drifting" while out of communications doesn't really explain. (The time factor is wrong: the Navy in Manama wouldn't ignore it that long if comms had been lost. There would have been a helicopter out there pronto.)

In addition to which, it makes zero sense for "some type of mechanical trouble with one of the boats" to cause "them" - both boats? - to run aground............This story doesn't hang together, as it stands right now." ....end quote.

(Side note:.... The Islamic Revolutionary Guard operates its military facilities on Farsi Island and would in any case conduct any seizure like this one.... The regular military is subordinate to the national civilian command structure, but the IRGC is subordinate to the Revolutionary Council, which is headed by the Ayatollah.)

Thanks for the map. We aren’t being told the truth by our government.

Looking at photos of these boats, they have larger numbers of people on them. Ask your contact what the usual crew size is, if you can.

I’m wondering if another ten Americans were killed when the boats were captured.

SKY News. Confirms being interrogated and ‘treated differently’ if they are spies.

After the capture the nearby aircraft carrier, according to Iranians, acted ‘unprofessionally.’

My guess is they wanted to go save their fellow soldiers. They got stand down orders from POTUS.

That was my take on it too. And I bet they know exactly what happened out there.

Oh I am sooo frustrated and worried for these sailors, one of them is a woman.

What does their interrogation include? Just wait until Iran announces that the sailors admitted to being spies.
And Obama is worthless. Our military, their lives at risk in that hellhole, and no one to help them back here.

I am just so sickened.

Don’t jump too far ahead Tiger.....we need more information....and we know it’s not going to come from Obama...we already know his relationship with our Military is poor...at best.... And at the SOTU not one Military Leader stood nor clapped for him at any time that I saw.

Being calm at such a time is a good thing because we really don't know if they are being interrogated for sure....the article read they would be “interrogated” if found to be spying I believe. The Iranian leadership knows they're playing with fire......and for whatever reasons will indeed use this to their advantage.....I doubt any harm has come to them this early on....you can't negotiate when that becomes a factor. Last I heard the men had spoken with someone in WAshington and they are fine...I believe this is likely true this early on.

On twitter, for whatever it is worth, these is speculation that this is why that admiral was fired last week.

Hard to tell about twitter....especially if it’s people simply commenting.....I generally use it for news sites if they leave a resource, so I can check it directly myself. I never post there. Anything I learn comes right to FR....since we are the Premier Web Site!

http://www.timesofisrael.com/iran-indicates-it-could-hold-on-to-captured-us-sailors-for-now/

““All vessels must give prior notice if they want to sail through another country’s waters, especially if they are military,” the admiral, Revolutionary Guards navy commander Ali Fadavi, was quoted by the Iranian Mehr news agency as saying. “In the world of international relations, there is only one instance of innocent passage through international waters, and the presence of American military in the Persian Gulf and their passing through our waters has definitely never been innocent.”

Fadavi added that American flyovers in the area in the hours after the sailors were taken were proof of “Americans’ lack of commitment to their claims of providing peace and security to the region.”

Spokesman Ramazan Sharif added: “If, during the interrogation, we find out that they were on an intelligence gathering mission, we will treat them differently.”

Here is Sepha News..the official news agency of the IRGC....
...An independent translation says it stated that the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was present southeast of the island in international waters when the arrest was made.

He also stated that the French aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle was northeast of the island in international waters at the time..... The spokesman insisted that the U.S. personnel are in “full health” and are being treated “with Islamic manners” by the IRGC’s naval forces.

Thanks. I am having trouble staying calm. Can you tell?

This just infuriates me because we have no leader to trust to help them.

I keep saying this is a continuation of Carter... In retrospect.. All of the preceding attacks leading up to 9/11 and every life lost in Iraq is all the Carter legacy with the Shah. If republicans were smart they would show this to the world.. But they are too busy funding more of the same.

If both boats died at the same time i would wager directed EMP type attack on them by the iranians....

This could be scaled up and range increased....
