Which American is senior here???? I would have told her to take that rag off and had everyone turn their face to the wall. This is disgusting and falls right on Obama and Kerry. Traitors both.

You are right. This stinks of a setup.

First, why were they there? A run from Kuwait to Bahrain should not have taken them anywhere near Iranian waters.

These guys have radios, right? We obviously have a naval presence in the gulf. Are you telling me there was no-one else around who could come to their aide? On a direct course they should have been 50 to 60 miles away from Iranian waters. Even if one boat was disabled it would take a day or two of drifting with a fairly strong current or breeze pushing you to get there.

Even if we were running a little thin on naval units in the northern gulf, there were no allied naval units around? No other shipping, fishermen, nothing that could be hailed to offer assistance on the open sea?

As others have pointed out, one of the boats was still running. Why didn't it simply tow the other boat away from Iranian waters, keep them both in international waters while awaiting help? You cannot tell me a US Navy boat went out without any line on board.

No, I'm not buying the official story at all. This was a setup, this was intentional as hell. The second running boat was there to actually rescue/tow the boat in case something went wrong and the Iranians couldn't make the rendezvous.

Those naval units were sent on a mission - intentionally close to Iranian waters. One of the boats was intentionally "disabled" and then they "drifted" (or the first boat towed them) into Iranians waters where the Iranians just happened to be waiting with the right boats and gear to bring them safely ashore. Treated them well, and then released them, no muss, no fuss.

Just 10 people is a small enough unit to be hand-picked and briefed on the real mission then sworn to secrecy. Be interesting to see if some or all of them move on to bigger/better things, or have "accidents"...

This whole thing is just a little bit too convenient for bammy and crew. Just when they are trying to get support for their idiotic and dangerous Iranian nuclear deal here is a ready-made fine example of how reasonable the Iranians are and what good fellas they are, and gee look how we can trust them to do the right thing.

Sorry, not buying it, far to neat and clean, obviously staged.

Yes, several. Ck the link.
This is a staged event. In the minds of cowards in the US it is proof Iran is civilized. In the minds of terrorists in Iran it is proof of US cowardice and capitulation.
The event is simply treasonable. It is a goldmine for
Iran which acquired substantial propaganda value.
1 - The boats could not have strayed into Iranian waters.
2 - Small naval vessels always travel in groups of 2 or more to facilitate rescue. There is no necessity of rescue by Iranian naval boats.
3 - Rules of engagement clearly oppose surrender to an apparently armed pirate.
4 - Pictures of captured soldiers, extracting confessions and formal interrogation of soldiers are acts of war and are in violation of all established treaties.
5 - No amount of pusillanimous contortions by US officials can erase the stink of cowardice and capitulation.

Concur.

Helocopters (and jets) “could have been” over them in minutes.

Would have been over them in minutes IF any radio call had been made declaring

(1) “The first engine has died. We are towing the boat out, mission abandoned.”
(2) Iranian patrol boats approaching us.”
(3) Iranian patrol boats threatening us.”
(3) Iranian patrol boats boarding us.”

The Iranian waters in this case is an island that does not appear on google earth or google maps and you would be hard pressed to find an actual map of the island on the internet.

On Google earth it appears as a blur or a hole in the ocean.

It is a secret Iranian base for the Iranian Revolutionary guards sitting smack dab in the sea lanes between Kuwait and the Straits of Hormuz, and is actually closer to Saudi Arabia than Iran.

The reason for the failure of these boats is the Biodiesel used by them. It is highly corrosive and ruins filters. Of course as part of Obama’s green initiative the navy has to suffer the brunt of bad green fuels while higrade diesel is readily available in the gulf.

Given the day it happened, I wonder if Obama was planning to announce something during his SOTU? Maybe that helps explain why his speech seemed so extra odd- it seemed slapdash and incoherent.

Something doesn’t smell right, but...

If boats travel in groups of 2 or more to facilitate “self-rescue,” isn’t it conceivable that both boats could suffer engine failures?

What if an identical and faulty upgrade, modification, or other maintenance had been recently performed on these boats? Or they were both topped of with contaminated fuel?

Seems unnecessary to take the boats and crew into custody in order to exchange something. If the crews were brought into something and sworn to secrecy they wouldn’t have wanted to bring more attention to the transaction, and would have def made sure all crew was male. The sailor with a rag on her head is a disgrace.
