Because a lot of women in this country will not hesitate to shoot and kill a crowd of filthy, evil rapists.
And more and more of them are getting the arms, training, and legal document (CCW) to allow them to do so. An old (female) friend from college days worked at a major university (which was, of course, officially a "gun free zone")for many years. She carried concealed every day in spite of that.
