I don’t know anything about this but it seems to me that two helos in this day and age shouldn’t collide unless there was major malfunction.

There’s a lot of automation, but the pilot is still in control 100%.

Night flying helos is tough, lost a bunch of friends when 2 53s went into the side of a mountain back in ‘76, and a good friend in Desert One, collision happen.

Just damn.

or pilot error, I was in one over Korea in 81, we almost had a blade strike. I broke up a fight between officers later, didnt know that was the reason, the pilot who almost flew MY helicopter I was in into the other...I stopped them from kicking his butt

I should have stood firewatch, but I didnt know why then
