New York Heroes Debunk Ted Cruz
nydailynews.com ^ | January 17

The toxic barbs Ted Cruz tossed at New York City just don't hold up.

In a city teeming with 8.5 million people there are everyday heroes who walk among us and know the true meaning of "New York values."

The Texas senator's decision to denigrate the big city has rubbed some the wrong way and led to a Big Apple-sized backlash against the Canadian-born presidential contender.

These everyday New Yorkers, who embody the true spirit of the city, weigh in.

Richard Singleton was working in the token booth of the 6 train subway station at 28th St. and Park Ave. South last March when two men began arguing on the platform. The fight escalated and one of the men whipped out a knife.

Singleton jumped into action and tackled the knife-wielding 27-year-old before he could slash the other man.

Values are not regional. Well said.

You cannot tell these people - who are as militant and close-minded as a 1930s trade unionist - that the mayoralty race had the lowest turnout in years. People were disgusted with the awful candidates. Crime in NYC is way down although I think DeBlasio needs to reinstitute stop and frisk for crime to disappear and he certainly needs to deal with the homeless problem. I believe his ratings are in the toilet although I haven’t check it out recently.

There are people here who refuse to recognize the humanity of New Yorkers - who do, indeed, help their fellow residents when they are in distress. They’d rather sit at their computers and look up stories from The Daily Fail. Some of us are in town each and every day and know the truth. But there are none so blind as those who cannot see.

Another thing the Cruz jerks do: they don’t argue alone. If you disagree with them, they send out messages to their pals in an attempt to swamp the opposition. That’s not a New York Value, lol. Whatever New Yorkers are, we are not cowards.

I'd take it as a compliment. I love the Psalms....and Proverbs, too.

Well, I am a born again Christian, so I don't take offense...though I'm pretty sure she meant a lot of offense by it......so that clearly gives us a glimpse into a dark and disturbed atheist soul. It also gives us a glimpse into a stunted IQ, as I have never - not once - used social issues or my faith as a reason to support Cruz over Trump. Though I agree with him about that, it's always been about a believer in limited government versus a believer in a strong man running a strong government.

among your many psychotic tendencies, the cutest and most adorable is to ignore things Trump actually said and did if it’s reported by a source you don’t like. It’s really just cute as hell on your part.

wake up dude....Cruz didn’t pit state against state.....he merely acknowledged that we are there.

I guess hard truth is tough sell to trump supporters.

If Cruz did make an error it was in underestimating the sleaziness of his opposition. In other words, he should have spelled it out more clearly so to avoid any BS like this.

Yes, but that was a big error - it let his opponents define his statement for their own purposes.

So true. You have to wonder about the childish insecurity these pansy New Yorkers have. I am fully secure enough in my beliefs to criticize what are now despicable Raleigh and Wake County NC values.

I grew up in a conservative city relatively....now it’s a county that’s gone Obama plus 10 for two Prez elections in a row. Why can’t these precious safe space yankees man up and admit what is wrong with their city and state?

Are conservatives from NC so superior to yankees? (well, maybe....)

“among your many psychotic tendencies,”

That is strange; that was my view of you which caused me to notice who was writing your crap.

Why can’t you start your sentences with capitalization, if you are a writer?

And this habit of telling anyone how stupid they are to disagree with you is tiresome.

Any claim to brilliance on your part has never been evident in your posts.

Dude, I don’t waste my writing skills here...i simply parry quickly while doing two or three other things. Don’t think you’re that important.

But again, you will absolutely ignore real things said and done by your new god - simply because you don’t like the source that reported it.

We call you a weapon of mass delusion.

“i simply parry quickly while doing two or three other things.”

Hopefully, the other two or three things turn out better.

“Trump has taken much more money from banks than Cruz, and it was Trump, not Cruz, who supported TARP and all the bail outs.”

Trump is a customer.

Cruz is married to the Golman Sachs family.

So if the head of the KKK changed a flat tire for a pregnant lady he passed on the road, his other actions would be immune from criticism?

George McGovern was a heroic bomber pilot in WWII. Therefore, every political position he took after 1945 is beyond comment, right?

If NY values are so superior and produce such great results, why have hundreds of thousands of NYers left (and millions more wish they could)?

You can rely on the media to focus on the trivial. If you take the bait, you’re a sucker. Already, no one remembers any substantive policy discussion in the debate show.

no, they’re both customers....in that they borrowed. The difference is, Cruz always pays it back. Trump skipped out on 900 million - then supported TARP.

So who is the nanny state bank pawn now? (Love it when lo fos step in it)

Sorry. Cruz has a conflict of interest, wielding any political power while married to Goldman Sachs.

Why do you call Cruz supporters - JERKS?
Is it possible to argue alone?
Did I bring any of my pals into this discussion with you?

Why did you say as a new Yorker WE are not cowards?
Did you bring in your pals and become a WE.

You should have said I am not a coward...

“NYC wanted to kick Donald J. Trump out”

Did you see the video of Trump and Brian Kilmeade on their lunch-time “stroll” in NY? Everyone they passed, at every walk of life, appeared to love Trump. A truck driver at a stoplight gave a thumbs-up. I didn’t see any negative reaction by anyone. And I don’t believe it was announced ahead of time as the reason they do these strolls is to see people’s impromptu reactions. Foreign tourists stopped to have their pictures taken with him. (Of course they aren’t voters.)
