The Establishment thinking is that if Trump beats Cruz in Iowa, they can then beat Trump with Rubio, Bush, or Christie. I think you missed the point of the story. The GOPe is trying to take out both Trump and Cruz and stick us with Bush/Rubio

Taking out Cruz can only mean a Trump nomination. Their is plenty of oppo to take Trump out. Lots and lots.
