It is disappointing. Honor is not the same as worshiping someone; no one is asking people to worship MLK, and I dare say anyone in the US is worshiping him, even 0bama, who only worships himself. To those out there, all great men were flawed; God uses flawed, not those already nearly perfect. Heck, Martin Luther hated Jews, not many folks knew that. Look it up.
