Donal Trump says he will force Apple to build its "computers and things" in the United States
9 To 5 Mac ^ | 1/18/2016 | Chance Miller

Trump told the audience at Liberty University that to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States he would make Apple "build their damn computers and things in this country." While this isn't a bad idea, or even the first time it has been suggested, Trump didn't offer any specifics on how he would force Apple to abruptly change its manufacturing.

"Please, we have such amazing people in this country: smart, sharp, energetic, they're amazing," Trump said. 'I was saying make America great again, and I actually think we can say now, and I really believe this, we're gonna get things coming... we're gonna get Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country, instead of in other countries."

There's currently no legal reason as to why Apple would have to bring all of its manufacturing stateside under a Trump presidency, although factors like incentives and tax breaks for the company could be offered. Nevertheless, Trump didn't detail his plans for forcing Apple to manufacture in the United States at all.

Here is the major difference: Cruz is soft on globalism.

6-23-15
WASHINGTON — For months, Sen. Ted Cruz backed a critical part of President Barack Obama’s trade agenda. But after weeks of taking heat from conservatives, Cruz abandoned his support for Trade Promotion Authority on Tuesday.

Also known as fast track, TPA prevents Congress from amending trade deals, only allowing a yes-or-no vote. The White House has pushed for Congress to pass fast track so it could finish off the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a massive trade deal with up to 11 Pacific Rim countries.

Cruz, a 2016 presidential candidate, announced his change of heart in an op-ed for the conservative news site Breitbart, published hours before a crucial procedural vote. He cited concerns about Republicans appeasing Democratic concerns over unrelated legislation and a separate trade deal, the Trade in Services Agreement, which he asserted could impact U.S. immigration law. Cruz voted no, but the bill moved ahead 60-37.

What core value has Donald Trump ever held?

Pro-Americanism. During his whole public career, he's expressed concern about the economic and physical security of Americans. In regard to the topic of the article, he's been talking about keeping American jobs from going overseas and rebalancing the horrible trade deficit since at least the 1980s. He's also been very hard on crime and pro-police and pro-death penalty also since at least the 1980s. He's also been outspoken about cracking down on terrorism since at least 2000.

He claims HE is going to make America Great again. Not let the American people do it (like Reagan) but he alone (like Obama).

Did you just make that up? He just about always says "we." He closes almost all of his rallies by saying, "We can made America greater than ever before" or "We are going to make America [or "our country"] great again." He's also explicitly told a few crowds, "It's not me. It's you," while pointing at them.

Perhaps it is not my reading comprehension that is at issue. I posted an article from 9 to 5 Mac. The article mentions “force” - not me.

Part of “making America great again” is reversing the loss of manufacturing jobs in the US.

You are correct. Jobs will come back when we lower the corporate tax rate and get rid of ridiculous regulations. Until then corporations will continue to flee abroad.

He said "we're gonna GET Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country, instead of in other countries." not FORCE.

"Force", "arm twisting", "a deal they can't refuse", whatever you want to call it.

I like it. It is just what they need.

Slap a 20% tariff on all consumer electronics should do it. Throw in a few local tax incentives and boom Apple has a nonunion manufacturing plant in < fill in R-T-W state here >

Building things/buying things made in America is a core CONSERVATIVE VALUE. Supporting corporations to manufacture in Chine using suicidal coolies is gloBULLism at its worst. This has NOTHING to do with unions. Unions are tiny fraction of the manufacturing work force.

Half the population of the USA has an IQ below 100. Maybe we should just kill them since they can no longer support themselves doing useful manufacturing work and the service sector has been overrun with illegals. /sarc

The Constitutional role of the President does NOT involved running the economy!

The very first law signed by the first president was the Tariff Act of 1789.

Why don't people see that?

Because the country is dying and emergency measures are needed.

So until that happens you are willing to watch America bleed out and die.
