When it comes to voting, Donald Trump must be hoping Americans will do as he says, and not as he does.
Records reviewed by National Review show that the mogul-turned-candidate never bothered to cast his vote in the past six presidential-primary elections — even in 2000, 2004, and 2012, years when he floated the idea of running for the Oval Office.
Even as Trump filled candidates’ coffers, he skipped the 2002 general election, failing to cast a vote for U.S. representative and governor, among other positions. He’s also sat out several city and state elections in the past 15 years, while donating heavily to candidates in the same races. In some of these elections, it appears Trump’s ever-changing party registration rendered him ineligible to cast a primary ballot. But in many others, he could have voted but didn’t.
Trump could not be reached, and his spokesperson had not responded to a request for comment by deadline.
Perhaps Trump prefers check-writing to ballot-casting. Over the past 15 years, he has donated more to Democratic candidates, including Friends of Hillary Clinton in 2002, than he’s given to Republicans.

I can’t remember when there was a contested Republican primary in New York....
McCain won New York in 2008 over Romney but I don’t know if Mitt actually campaigned there since he was running as the “conservative” candidate that year.
Yeah, not much of a hit job, was it? I refused to vote last time out, too. Last vote cast was for Romney, I think.
Today at Liberty he correctly described the way it works: Donate money to the politicians and then when you want the right legislation, you have your man call the Presidentâ s man and remind him of how much you gave to his campaign. Casting your ballot? They donât care what the voters think.
Some much for the sanctity of the vote. But hey, if it helps beat Trump, who cares about core values of the Republic. Right, TDSers, BushBots, and other GOPe?
Not me, It’s like using my turn signals when no ones behind me....like to stay in the habit.
Bad enough he hasn’t ever held an elected office.... turns out he doesn’t even vote. He’ll vote this time since someone he likes more than anything else is running.
I can’t say as I blame him.
My candidates never make it past the primaries. They are always too conservative. And the moderates always lose in the General elections. Ugh. (I was not registered to vote during the primary for the 2000 election. I don’t think I would have voted for W.)
I confess that I crossed over in 2004 and voted for John Kerry. I thought he was the worst candidate for the RATS.
Well, if he’s the nominee, he and I will have something in common.
The article was from last June.
You are of course referring to the uncounted millions he has quietly fed to St. Jude Children’s Hospitals through his son’s organization, right? (Still doesn’t talk about it, but not hard to dig out the numbers if you know how to search.)
Oh wait, guess that doesn’t count...
Yeah, it’s gotta be detrimental to all of our health to be breathing the fumes from all this BS they’re posting.
Yup, take your toys and go home if you don’t get your way.
The lucky ones who managed to get past the Abortion mills.
That guy is supposed to be wearing a bathrobe ;)
Amazing! I no longer support Trump, this is outrageous! He just lost my vote /s
Trump wears me out. I've worked with guyz like this throughout my career, a couple of them now. This sort of personality will sell their mama to get ahead.
If the boss stopped too quickly, they go right up their @$$. Petty, conniving, childish, self centered, egomaniacs, obnoxious and rude.
The joke around the office, “wanna know something, ask ol so and so, he’z gotta answers for EVERYTHING”.
Trump votes with his money, doesn’t need to go pull the lever. Now if there was a one vote
win in some election then his vote may have counted in the outcome.
