All military branches required to 'address the impacts of climate change'
A new directive issued by Pentagon leaders mandates that the agency work to "assess and manage risks associated with the impacts of climate change," according to a copy of the Jan. 14 directive issued by Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work.
As the Obama administration focuses on a larger effort to push its climate change agenda, the Pentagon will now "address the impacts of climate change." This includes engaging in "deliberate preparation, close cooperation, and coordinated planning" to "improve climate preparedness and resilience," according to the directive.
The partnership will include state governments and the private sector.
Pentagon officials expect that the climate change effort will "help safeguard [the] U.S. economy, infrastructure, environment, and natural resources," according to the directive.
The directive is to be obeyed by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, all the military branches, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and most all other entities operating under the Pentagon umbrella.
"The DoD must be able to adapt current and future operations to address the impacts of climate change in order to maintain an effective and efficient U.S. military," according to the 12-page directive.
"Mission planning and execution" must now include an assessment of the "effects of climate change on the DoD mission."
The military also is directed to take "those [climate change] effects into consideration when developing plans and implementing procedures." They also must anticipate and manage "any risks that develop as a result of climate change to build resilience," according to the order.
Additionally, the under secretary of defense for intelligence and the director of national intelligence are directed to coordinate with one another about "risks, potential impacts, considerations, vulnerabilities, and effects [on operations] of altered operating environments related to climate change and environmental monitoring,"

Yeah, but Gleason and Carney beat us to it by about 60 years. ;>)
Big no-nos for the US military or guidelines to being militarily responsible and Eco-friendly:
No explosives as this spreads unwanted metal into the environment - this metal may not meet environmental regulations and be Eco-friendly.
No lead or depleted uranium in rounds and these are known carcinogens and very hazardous causing horrendous uncontrollable mutations - Godzilla is an example. No one wants that again.
All swords and arrow tips used by the US military must meet stringent EPA and UN regulations.
It’s fake. Next question.
Whatever happened to "killing people and breaking things?"

We are being setup for an attack from within.
How many billions are going to be “readdressed” so tie dyed hippies can get vetted clearances into the top secret horrors of this mysterious climate change that makes the invisible man cast a shadow? If algore was pre Noah I might have listened.
I'm sure the Navy is all for it.
It may seem silly, but overpreparing to fight and win in climate extremes isn’t a bad thing. Even if the impetus for doing so is the notion of AGW. Prepare for the worst, and have an easier go of it when the actual scenario doesn’t begin to approach the worst.
Just like those silly planning hypotheticals on confronting a zombie apocalypse. No one really expects an actual zombie contagion/outbreak, but we can all figure out why such planning and prepping might be a good idea anyways. Right?
You think it's a hoax, or satire? What makes you think that?
I don't know whether it is or isn't fake. But apparently you do, so please enlighten us.
Well I know the US Army studied the German cold weather failures in Russia in WWII. We did a lot of tank testing in the early 1980s at -60F temps.
That 0W10 synthetic lube oil is about as thin as kerosene but it works great.
Ok, fine. We do have contingency plans for an alien invasion too.

Climate Change (in this context) is completely false.
I’m just shaking my head.
This is not only hair-raisingly stupid, but at the same time provocative in the negative sense, of life imitating art.
Totally reminds me of the Corpse of Engineers.
A professional useful and creative agency, which built useful projects, for the benefit of the nation's citizens, expanded the transportation and expansion of the Great Nation, and did research useful to the civilian sector and used my engineers generally; trickle down expertise.
Also reminds me of the BLM, caretakers of the Public Lands for the use and benefit of the Nation's citizens.
It also reminds me of NASA, which implemented dreams defined by the Nation's citizens through elected representatives.
All of which reminds me of the cautionary tale about Firemen. I would feel silly describing the original purpose of firemen and fire departments.
And it only took 62 years and an ignorant, unopposed megalomaniac for the absurd premise to become a reality.
1953.
Ray Bradbury.
Fahrenheit 451.
Stop the rising Seas.
Reverse 150 years of benefit to mankind through human ingenuity and technology.
Destroy 150 years of human progress to worship the ignorant modern witch doctors predicting doom at every turn.
The very transformation of creative agencies into the OPPOSITE of the purpose for which they were created!
The Total perversion of the very uniqueness of being human.
On the bright side if this EO is adopted, why would we need any standing military at all?
Returning to state militias exclusively seem more and more attractive.
Well that is absolutely true.
But I have no doubt whatsoever that our current CIC would give an order for the military to focus on fighting climate change instead of fighting America's enemies.
“Maybe they want to put catalytic converters on the Abrahams tanks?”
Good LORD, don’t be giving them any ideas. Can’t you just imagine General George Patton, and General MacArthur if they would have had to deal with this garbage? Especially Patton. My Dad Fought under Patton, and Dad always said, as much as he didn’t like Patton, the one good thing is that Patton would not send his troops anywhere that he himself would not go.
2017 can't come soon enough.
Its too hot outside. Boo hoo. We cant go to war.
What stupidity.
What bullshit.
I cant make it any nicer than that.
If the sheeple of this country had any guts at all they would take up clubs and torches to drive and burn the maggots out.
