Will Smith will be joining his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in boycotting the 88th Academy Awards over this year’s all-white acting nominees, the actor said on Thursday’s Good Morning America on ABC.
“My wife’s not going. It would be awkward for me to show up with Charlize [Theron],†Smith joked to Robin Roberts. “No, we’ve discussed it, and we’re a part of this community, but at this current time, we’re uncomfortable to stand there and say this is okay.â€
Pinkett Smith posted a video online last Sunday, in which she lamented the treatment of black actors in entertainment.
“Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources, and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream ones,†she said.
The actress’s statement came following an announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that all 20 Oscar nominations in the four major acting categories had gone to white actors for the second consecutive year.
Smith, who many believed would pick up a nomination this year for his role in Concussion, was among those left off the ballot.

You won’t be missed Will. Will has a more flops than a fulltime fisherman in a shallow creek. Concussion did not become any big shake up point in the football culture, as many expected (hoped) it would. Who wants to watch a downer movie about football during Christmas Week, and in the deep dark shadows of the new Star Wars movie? Not a whole lot, it turns out.
...and who’s in charge of checking all the other nominators to make sure that if everybody else has nominated a white person, they nominate based on skin color and not who they thought turned in the best performance??

What an arrogant Putz. Denzel Washington and Jamie Fox are 5x the actor he is and Forest Whitaker 2x the actor. Not to mention other great Black Actors that haven’t won yet.

Will Smith is one of those actors that will win one of those lifetime achievement award Oscar they give out right before they die.

allowed to win the Oscars, The American Music Awards and

So, from now on they should have a category of Best Performance by a Black Actor. Because that’s exactly what it will be. They’ll come up with four white actors then go find a black one. That means, once again, a white guy will get screwed by affirmative action. Or maybe it should be called “affirmative acting”.
