Ton of respect for a lot of people on this list including Sowell, Bozell, McCarthy. I have one simple question. Can any of their candidates realistically get to 270 against Hillary with this electorate?

Hardcore trumpees don't read anything that may make them question him. They worship him, power of cult, facts don't matter, only their feelings.

And this is what makes him so scary. “Make America Great Again”means all things to all people. A lot of projecting going on.

Just exactly what has happened in the last 30 years that would enable a "know nothing" political novice to be the frontrunner, by a wide margin, of the republican party>

Where does all the support come from?

Are the majority of rank and file, hard working moms and dad republicans, from a broad spectrum of ability, background, and talent truly ignorant, as compared to these know everythings?

His much-heralded hard line on immigration discards pragmatic reform policies favored by the two most popular conservatives of the last half century, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Building a yuuuuge wall along the southern border hardly qualifies as a "cautiously moderate" approach, nor would uprooting 11 million current residents (and, presumably, millions more of their American-citizen children and spouses) in the greatest forced migration in human history.

Pragmatic efforts? WTH?

Look, either you have a border or you don't. That is the DEFINING issue of our time at least for real Conservatives. Apparently millions of Conservatives are finding out that the meaning in the word has been perverted by the GOPe RINO elites to mean open borders and cheap labor.

Thanks.
Other than Meese, none of them are persuasive and realistic IMO.
And Meese’s point is more aptly ‘pointed’ at our pathetic political media.

The argument that Cruz is more conservative than Trump is self-evident, extrapolations from that fact are not.

Need a cartoon of someone throwing a mouse (their idea of trump) into the covers of the magazine, then a herd of elephants busting through the pages.

A lot of loons and neocons.

If these are Trump’s opposition, I’ll stand with Trump.

Absolutely correct... these people are part of the problem... the High and Mighty “Conservatives”... the do-nothing GOP-e . The ones who force McCain, Dole and Romney down our throats. The ones who, when in control of both the Senate and the House, rubberstamp and enable the progressive Obama agenda.

They are all uniting in opposition to the new sheriff in town... misery loves company.

To paraphrase a quote from “Meet Joe Black”...
...Quit blowing smoke up each other’s ass. It will ruin your autopsy.

ESAD, GOP-e.

They are insulted and called ignorant every five minutes by those who have claimed to be looking out for them. That is certain.

Trump hasn’t been part of the eGOP “scene” in DC and those that have spent their entire lives climbing the social ladder in the eGOP are scared they won’t retain their positions if Trump wins. Period. THAT is why they oppose Trump.

Rubio is a lightweight and would be lucky to break 100 EVs.

... It’s pretty much useless to argue this point unless we first define what “conservatism” is and then compare this agreed definition to the arguments put forth by each individual writers.
Defined in the article.
It’s limited government. It’s the Constitution. It’s liberty.
All of which are extremely lacking in DT.

Or billy jeff, or algore, or the treasonous bitch that is running for pres on the dem ticket, or the socialist (admitted) that is getting more votes than her(what's with that?), or zero's entire existence and presence.

No, they were complicit, and now their applecart's wheels are wobbling and about top fall off.

panic is setting in, and I, for one, love every minute, and wish them nothing but misery.

Problem is,
