She once called Donald Trump "a maggot, a cockroach and a crumb." This week, he remembered her as "an impossible person."
...
Coking battled with Trump and prevailed in a 1998 state Supreme Court case that blocked attempts by the state to use eminent domain to condemn the property.
...
But back in the day, Coking wasn't afraid to throw a zinger. At the height of their battle in 1998, the 70-year-old Coking said of Trump to the New York Daily News: "A maggot, a cockroach and a crumb, that's what he is."
"If Trump's thinking I'm gonna die tomorrow, he's having himself a pipe dream," she said then. "I'm gonna be here for a long, long time. I'll stay just to see he's not getting my house. We'll be going to his funeral, you can count on that."

When I related this to an east coast city guy I knew who understood ZIP about squat except that country people are "backwards," he smiled wisely and said:
"Not enough money."
Like I said, he didn't understand zip about squat. The pasture, ordinary as it was, was a favorite of my friend's old ma, in her 90s at the time. There's no way on God's green earth he'd have sold it while she lived and not even after she died, not for $10 million. The pasture is still there.
HIS PRIORITIES WERE RIGHT with regard to the importance of money.
No assumption. That is what he said.
For some of us, there are things that simply are not for sale. They may be objects, they may be principles, they may be loyalties, but they are NEVER on the table, at any price.
“Right. Thatâs the made up part of the story with no evidence to back it up.”
Cognitive dissonance much?
Google “New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority,” “Trump” and “Coking” and you’ll find all the evidence you could ever want.
The woman, a widow, had lived in that house for decades and had raised her children there. Trump wanted the house for parking lot space for limos. She didn’t want to sell the home and that pissed Trump off, so he enlisted the CRDA to jump in on his behalf and seize the property. The issue went to court... and Trump got his a** handed to him.
I get that you love Trump... but really now... you’re defending the indefensible here.
Ha! You are correct. Long flight
He looks to be very careful to say he was willing to go up to that amount, not that he actually offered 5 Million.
I think the record shows at least a million and probably 1.9 as his offer.
There is a long description of the case from the legal group that defended her here. The matter has been reported in many places, so it’s not like this isn’t public knowledge making so many of the things posted here an utter waste of bandwidth or an effort to obscure the facts of the case.

Yes, she was offered a lot of money. There is no clear indication that she was offered 5M, rather Trump says “I would have paid up to $5 million for her house”. Note he does not say he “offered” that amount.
For those who think that Trump had nothing to do with the CRDA’s actions, I’m sure there is a bridge that someone will sell you somewhere.
Actually, no.. he offered $1 million and Coking countered with $3 million. Trump rejected that figure and then engaged the CRDA to help seize the property.

I'm sure Trump had nothing to do with the Mayor wanting the property. Remember the Donald (peace be on his name) saying he used to give politicians money in order to buy them. I am so sick of the Trumpettes on this board, they are willing to give up on all conservative principles in order to back their man.
Nonsense. You people are a caricature of what FR once was. Read the O’Connor and Thomas dissent in Kelo. Since 1798 the standard was as follows:
An act of the Legislature (for I cannot call it a law) contrary to the great first principles of the social compact, cannot be considered a rightful exercise of legislative authority ⦠. A few instances will suffice to explain what I mean⦠. [A] law that takes property from A. and gives it to B: It is against all reason and justice, for a people to entrust a Legislature with such powers; and, therefore, it cannot be presumed that they have done it.â Calder v. Bull, 3 Dall. 386, 388 (1798) (emphasis deleted).
Kelo changed it to public benefit. Trump favors private benefit as does his cult members like you Justice Sotomayor.
But its accurate. So not being one to follow the mob I will continue using as I have for the past 30 years.
You’d have to pull your head out of your cult leaders are first. I am secure in the knowledge that that is an impossible task for you Francis.
If I seek advice from you I have left orders for the Viking burial to commence forthwith.
Well aren’t you a class act.
Well, I am a multi faceted guy. I can do humor, snark, nasty or intellectual. I go with the flow.
Five million dollars or $700,000..... hummmm, and who is the impossible one?
It's politics, not a pillow fight.
I had to look back to see what you are so upset about.
Are you referring to the post to SeaHawksFan? Lolz... If so, not even he was upset about the ribbing. Spoiler alert: Ribbing over sports teams is not a personal attack.
Have a good day.... lolz
Why is he still here?
