My bf had cancer and we were suppose to go to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital on Sept 11, they called, and we made an apt for Sept 28...WOW I was not ready for that, and did I get my eyes opened...went back a lot for treatments, and each time we would go to ‘ground zero’ just to see...
And you know what I am talking about when I say it’s a ‘sacred place’...only those that have been there know what it is like....
Before I left PA, I made a trip into New York and walked around, but it is the same ‘sacred place’ and we know what it means...
The families themselves had set up impromptu shrines near Shanksville, on a hill overlooking the crash site. It was at once stunning, and heart breaking to see such personal and intimate of objects being left to their dearly departed loved ones. A trinket on one, a stuffed animal on another, a cherished photograph adorning this one, a ball cap on that one, a coloring by a child left to nature's fate... from four points of the compass, firemen's duty helmets held fast in reverent display, affixed to a chain link fence seemingly there for that explicit purpose. And then a collective anger felt by everyone, and understood by everyone, needing not to be conveyed in the spoken word. GRRR!
And to think how far we have drifted in fundamental transformation, with unfettered illegal immigration promulgated by an imposter in the White house, and by compromised elected officials asleep at the wheel, some fighting tooth and nail to drive the bus over the nearest cliff.
