Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of the late televangelist, endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday, giving Republican front-runner the blessing of one of the evangelical community’s biggest names just days before the Iowa caucuses.

In a statement announcing his endorsement, Falwell called Trump “a successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.”

Is this the "powerful endorsement" Trump has been talking about today?

Certainly bigger than Glenn Beck if it is.

The Cruz supporters are gonna run out of room underneath their bus pretty soon.

Probably not, I think they're waiting to see who George Pataki is endorsing.

Now that is BIG!!!

The Falwell's have always been thought of in social and religious circles as a top brand of people...

This is amazing!!!

All the right people lining up to endorse Trump...a great leader always attracts great people...

Way.To.Go.TRUMP!!!

I am wondering the same thing and my guess is yes! This would be powerful with evangelicals which is what he needs right now!

Actually....I think a Pataki endorsement following a Falwell endorsement would be quite powerful.

this is impressive.

Probably Falwell got a new building out of it for the Liberty campus...which is fair enough.

Sort of sad for Cruz since he did his announcement there....

But politics is politics...and Trump put together a deal here and pulled the rug out from under Cruz.

You are right. This is big. Score one for Trump.

Not even remotely as big as Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck has a daily radio show with a huge audience, and a news site that gets mega hits...especially now.

Glenn Beck is on fire these days, like the Glenn Beck of old tearing up the chalkboards on Fox News. And he is focused like a laser beam promoting Ted Cruz and exposing Donald Trumps terrible political record.

Glenn Beck’s endorsement is better than Falwell and Palin’s endorsement combined!

WaPo behind paywall now?

I heard reports of unhappiness with his over the top intro of Trump at Liberty from alumni and alumnae.

He said then the university did not endorse. If he is calling this his personal endorsement, he might be getting some blowback his institution does not need.

You will notice that the Cruz supporters don’t sneer over someone who endorses Trump until after they endorse. You would think that they would preemptively reject the potential endorsements for Cruz.
