There’s some thing to consider: inoculation in case Cruz edges Trump in Iowa. Trump wouldn’t have to blame it on missing the debate, the self-important media would.

Hmm. Yes, you’re right. Certainly the media would take credit for “defeating” him.
Still, the obvious: for years Rush Limbaugh and others have suggested Republicans NOT do biased debates. Now, the first time someone does it, we get the whiny birds out.
