You can tell a tree by its fruit. Trump’s is putrid.

His children seem fine to me and so do his buildings.

You want a good “Christian” for President, then vote for Jimmy Carter, he even still teaches Sunday School.

“Google and Fox announced Tuesday afternoon that an anti-Trump Muslim advocate, Nabela Noor, would be allowed to play a role in the debate. She was apparently chosen by Youtube, with help from the RNC and Fox. African American, Mark Watson, and Latino, Dulce Candy will also join the moderators in the debate to ask the candidates a question on an issue that matters to them and their communities.”

Trump did the right thing to avoid the Fox ambush set-up.

No thanks. PS: Reagan was divorced - a Christian no-no.

I don’t care if he’s Christian or not, as long as he defends Judeo-Christian Culture.

By all accounts, Winston Churchill was not a particularly religious person, still who would you have rather had defending Western Civilization?

Like his brother George, when it comes to religion, he joins the church that his wife tells him to. It’s not like the Bush boys had any Christian convictions of their own.

"The fact that Trump is liberal on corn subsidies, guns, abortion, and private property rights (favoring crony capitalism) is the issue to me."

OK. So he's not real big on the Constitution. And the whole free market capitalism thing isn't really his bag.

And yeah, he's a bit unstable, clearly very socially liberal and pretty much an entitled, silver-spoon brat.

And there is that record of bankrupting companies right and left, leaving the suckers who invested with him holding the bag.

And sure he tried to throw an old lady out of her house so he could put up a parking lot. Who hasn't?

And yeah, I have to admit he doesn't seem to have much of a grasp of world events or even such basic concepts as the "nuclear triad." And I'll admit that he coms across as a petulant bully with a limited vocabulary - everything is "the greatest" or "the best" or "YUUUGE."

I'll grant you all that.

But he said Mexicans are rapists, which was really cool! How can you not support him?

Here is my problem with Trump. He is twice on record stating he does not need to, nor does he ask God for forgiveness of his sins.

This means Trump is unwilling to humble himself before God. Which leads me to believe Trump thinks he his bigger than God.

We already have a POTUS who thinks he is bigger than God and it has been an unprecedented disaster. I don’t want another of the rail megalomaniac President because it will be a disaster.

A man unwilling to humble himself before God thinks he does not have to answer to anyone. I’m not willing to give Trump the chance.

“I am not voting for Pope.”

I would agree with that sentiment - we are NOT voting for a religious leader, we are voting for who would be the best President. Many times the characteristics that we’d like in a religious leader are bad characteristics (or at least not good ones) for a political leader (and visa versa). This is irrelevant.

Jeb is (as usual) WAY off base and WAY out of line. He doesn’t know Trump’s heart any more than I do, and I think that it is rude beyond belief to publicly question another’s beliefs in this manner. Why don’t we let G-d judge us, and stick to improving the world around us instead of impugning the character of others (which doesn’t do anything but harm). In a purely political sense, negative attacks on others may be effective in the short-term, but they don’t tell us why to vote for the attacker - and that applies in spades here. I STILL don’t know why I should vote for JEB (though I do know a whole host of reasons why I shouldn’t, this latest incident being only the last item on a long list).

That said, I look to a person’s actions over a long period of time to get a sense of their general morality. Trump has given a LOT to charity, and did not have to give a penny or any of his time. Trump wants to help the vets, especially those carrying around permanent injuries - that speaks to both compassion and the understanding that our society owes those fine folks a BIG debt of gratitude and caring. Where’s Bush on these things? If he is similarly charitable, great for him - and the issue is off the table.

Does Trump have negative moral characteristics? Surely - as do we all. My advice for JEB is that, since he also lives in a glass house, maybe he shouldn’t throw rocks.

OTOH, Bush has about 5% support because most Republican voters sense that he is just another cog in the Establishment machine that has repeatedly lied to us and used us. He CLEARLY doesn’t give a damn about lower income citizens, because he favors letting in lots of immigrants who will directly compete with them - not to mention the crime and disease that they’ll bring in, which will affect everyone. That one stance, on immigration, speaks more to Bush’s morality than anything that he says about Trump.

Trump may or may not be the best candidate for President (this is not the thread to discuss that issue, and I do have my opinions about the whole field), but attacking his religiosity or lack thereof is, AT BEST, irrelevant. At worst, it shows (yet again) Bush’s desperation and lack of judgment (and, for that matter, his contempt for the thought process that millions of voters go through to determine who is best suited to become the Republican nominee).

In short, JEB = FAIL.

He may not be, but at least he says he will be the best friend of Christianity, recognizes that Christianity is under siege, and says that we need to stop the assault against Christianity. (Paraphrased from 3 different speeches.) One doesn’t need to be a solid or even true Christian to recognize that Christianity is a good thing and to defend it.
